They're drowning in applications, if one, or ten, or a hundred go somewhere else they still have a full cohort. It'd almost be better if they just said Dec 1 they send out emails. That way people aren't smashing f5 on their email all day.

Damn, Palomar needs to speed it up. I need some of these accepted miracosta folks to choose Palomar instead so I can have their seat! I don't wanna wait until Fall to get this party started.

I only applied miracosta, I don't have sociology done and everywhere else requires it. I am still shaking my head that an associate's program can be this competitive. You almost definitely have to have a degree already to have a chance. It's absurd... Gabby, you got it next time! Keep on trucking!

I just got an email from miracosta. Already omg! I have been accepted as an alternate unfortunately. I was really hoping for a spot so I could get this show on the road. I had 83 points so it looks like acceptances are at least >83 this time. Good luck to everyone! PS if you get accepted to miracosta you should not attend, so I can have your spot

This is entirely speculation, but based on pass rates and the general competitiveness of the programs down here I don't think there are many if any bad non-profit schools. I would go wherever is closer. Two years x the difference in drive time adds up in time and gas and stress pretty quickly.

Thanks it felt good and I don't have anyone in real life who understands the victory haha! Strangely enough I only meet the prereqs for miracosta since I don't have sociology done. I am taking it now however. Gonna apply everywhere for for the fall if I don't get in this time. Should get in somewhere with the extra 5-7 points I'll have. But I don't wanna wait haha.

Sorry it took so long to respond! I had to take my TEAS. Just submitted my application for MCC and I have 83 points. Ended up crushing the TEAS and getting a 96! 99th percentile woohoo! I'm still on the low end of points I think, so I'll be holding my breath until the end of October. Anyone else submit and have numbers yet?

Yea, I went in and asked specifically because I was going to turn in a copy of my petition, but they said no way Jose. And yea I mean mine will be done once I finish fall classes. I need them too, but worst case I just reapply for fall and I'll get the points then, but I don't WANT to

I've heard that spring is slightly easier to get into than fall because there are generally more applications for the traditional fall start. Fingers crossed for that! Also I was bummed to find out they won't give points until a degree is 'in hand' even if it will be finished before the program start! Oh well!

I was under the impression that all of the BSN programs are insanely competitive, and that my pre-military community college GPA would essentially make them impossible for me. Is this incorrect? Also most of the websites don't list their admissions criteria, and I can't easily contact them because I am out of the country currently. Do you know any programs specifically which allow grade replacement? It seems that my low previous GPA and relatively high amount of credits would make other less competitive options that bridge into the same end point more attractive. Do you recommend avoiding these other options from a financial perspective, or a time perspective? Regardless I much appreciate the input!!!

Location: Southern California Hello everyone. I am trying to figure out what the best way for me to venture into the nursing world is. There are so many options and so many proponents for each one that I am not sure which route is best for me. I graduated high school in '09 and went to a California CC for 2 years. I didn't really care much, but didn't know what else to do so my GPA for those 50 or so units is about a 2.6. I then joined the military for 5 years, got myself together, and am now ready to venture back to the academic world. The only thing I have decided for sure yet is that I am going to attend a CC CNA course ASAP just to get my foot in the door, so to speak. After that where do I go? My primary concern is time. I looked into the same community college's LVN program, and it says they are accepting applications for 2020 which is insane! I am not prepared to wait that long while working as a CNA for a variety of reasons. I have not ruled out any options, but am looking for everyone's input, advice, and experience to assist me in my decision. My ultimate goal is to earn a BSN. If going CNA-LVN-BSN is the best way to get there that is fine by me, but it's tough to discern from the internet alone. tl;dr Wait for LVN in 2020? Pay for private LVN somewhere? Pay for BSN somewhere? Pursue a separate degree then go BS-BSN? Other options?
