This is my real question...I have been a RN for 15 years...I have never been disciplined in my working career (meaning I have never been written up) in fact get wonder reviews from my patients and have great letters of recommendation from all my past employers. My problem is this: I recently relocated and I have a fairly new job...I'm a male nurse and one of our Nursing Assistants is in nursing school...his mother has been worked there for 27 years and he is a spoiled brat. A lot of the workers kiss his butt because his mom is in a high position, but the issue is this...he is lazy and he thinks he knows everything...the other day he was socializing and I left him and continued with my work...he contacted my boss who is friends with his mother and told her I had been missing for 3 hours...today I may be held accountable for something I did not do and I want to tell my boss the truth about this kid but I am concerned about my new relationship with my boss...I am only 3 months into this job and I don't want to cause bad blood within the work place...normally I would speak up in a flash but once again I am new and just trying to do my job without conflict.

Why didn't you just start out with this question in the first place? 🤔

I'm not sure if I'm bored or if I'm irritated. Maybe it's time for bed.

Post has been split into a thread of its own to attract more responses. Good luck to the original poster and the difficult, unenviable situation that he is currently in.
TheCommuter: I would like to thank you for your help, I appreciate it, as for the rest of you, well I guess you have no humor...sorry to waste your valuable time!

From most of us who have been engaged in threads in the Internet since the late 90s-early 2000s, there are a pattern of people who detail threads and don't think of it as "humor", especially when a forum such as this is a safe space to anonymously cope with the challenges of our profession.
That's not to say we don't have fun and don't have a sense of humor; but your "brand" looks suspicious and anything you say at this point will question your validity of being a nurse unless otherwise demonstrated-that's unfortunately the way it is.
As far as your question; if you were performing the duties of your job and documenting electronically, that may be your saving grace; be factual, and stand your ground.
Best wishes.
(And if this is a "fake" post, at least I posted to help someone else who may need it. )

Is this what his other moronic post was about?! Personally, I think the OP is the one who sounds like the spoiled brat. If he leaves as bad a taste in people's mouths as he has here, then I say he gets whatever is coming to him.

Hmm - If you were working during the time period in question, there would be some sort of evidence to support your assertion. Can't you just show her the documentation - med admin, chart notes, I&O, etc - of the work you were doing at that time? If you truly feel that you are getting a raw deal, you may need to to have a chat with HR.
I'd just leave the 'your kid's spoiled rotten' conversation for another time..... in the far distant future. If he is just biding time until school convenes, the problem may solve itself.
