Hello all, I was wondering if anyone will be taking Microbiology in the spring..if so I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread for the new yr for this particular class. I figured that we can all be able to post questions and answers here regarding the class or just to talk about anything regarding micro.
I will be starting my Micro class on tuesday im going to edison state college in fort myers fl. Im very excited and also a little nervous to be starting school after a semester break.
* I look forward to see who else will be starting micro this spring and I hope we can all be able to help each other out throughout the semester
Great idea !Microbiology W/Diseases By Taxonomy by Robert Bauman (3rd edition)
Microbiology: A Laboratory Manual by James Cappuccino (9th Edition)
A Photographic Atlas for the Microbiology Laboratory by Leboffe & Pierce
The professor that has been teaching the only microbiology class on campus took medical leave so I have a new professor that was interviewed for the job a week before our first lecture. So far two weeks in there is a lot of disorganization and confusion ! She has never taught medical microbiology before.
Yikes !
I will also need Microbiology W/Diseases By Taxonomy by Robert Bauman (3rd edition) and
Microbiology: A Laboratory Manual by James Cappuccino (9th Edition) for my micro class this summer. Would you be willing to sale them to me?
Does anyone else have a lab partner? !
I have a lab partner and I think I lucked out that she sat next to me. She and I work well together and luckily have the same work ethic. Prof explains what we need to do, we both take notes on everything and we are on it. The other 2 people at our table, across from us, sit there and stare at us because we are so efficient and know what we are doing. One of the other 2 people are rarely there at class as well, so that other person gets paired up with some other person from class. I would hate to have a lab partner that just let you do all the work for them. That really makes me mad. I was very fortunate to have good lab partners in all my science classes.
Hang in there, the semester is almost over. You ought to talk to your prof about your concerns as well to make sure you are getting the credit you deserve. Who cares if he does well on the tests, you do all the work, you should receive most of the credit for that!
Does anyone else have a lab partner? My partner is horrible. He keeps leaving class 1 hr or more early and leaving me to take care of our joint tasks, clean up for both of us, or even finish up on what he left behind. Yet he does well on the exams/assignments. Life is unfair!
Tell your teacher that he's not doing the experiment, etc.
I am not one of those "I am entitled to be treated like a princess" sort of folks, but I know where to draw the line. Moron lab partners deserve to fail.
I lucked out with my lab partner. She went to an LPN program in high school so she definitely knows what she's doing.

Good job momtojosh!
I love this class. It is the MOST interesting science class I have ever taken. It must be my teacher, she makes it fun. We dont have to do the unknowns. She feels students dont get much from that so we are going to be focusing on antibiotics since most of us are going into nursing.
I'm holding with a 95% so far. I am so happy but we had a test on dilutions. I thought I had it down, but apparently not cuz i got a B on the last lab test,
so my % is probley now a 93. I suck at math. I pray for an A. My class is over on May 12. I'll let you know!
Good luck to all!
