Microbiology-Spring 2008

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I was hoping to start a "sticky" for those of us facing micro this spring. I've done (and kind of enjoyed) A&P I and II but am nervous about this course. If anyone finds any good links, has Q&As or hints to share, etc., could we add them here? I have seen other posts about micro, but only by doing a search and couldn't find a dedicated thread. If there is one, point me in the right direction and I'll shut up. LOL!

Happy New Year everyone!

Also taking Micro w/ Lab this spring, along with Psychology and my humanities and fine arts electives. Micro is with the same professor that I had last semester for APII, so I know what to expect from her. (She was great so this is a big relief to have her again!) This will TOTALLY complete my pre-reqs. I'm already looking forward to a summer off!

Specializes in Cardiac.

I'm doing Micro this spring as well. GL to everyone!

I am "crashing" both Micro and Anatomy this semester - got a late start on registration and both classes were closed. Fingers crossed that I get permission to take them both, trying to make the Fall 09 cohort of an Accelerated BSN.

Is Microbiology available thru any of the online colleges? Thanks!

The University of South Dakota has microbiology available online.

I took human development in fall 07 and it was very easy as I had taken it online thru my college and I was able to concentrate mostly on my Biology classes.

Add me in to the spring Micro class group. I took A&P I/II already (a year ago) and this is the last class I need to apply for the accelerated BSN program.

Hey everyone, count me in! I'm taking 4 other classes with Micro. This should be an interesting semster.

Specializes in Cardiac, Derm, OB.

I am in. Class beginning January 14th. I also have sociology this semester.

I am in TJC in Texas if there is any other students in the area holler.

Hey everyone. I'm taking Micro this spring too....the last of my pre-req's. Should find out in april or may if i made it into nursing school for fall 08. From what I've heard the teacher i have is super easy, doesnt even make you buy the book.

Good luck everyone!!! :w00t:

Hi there ! New to this site ! Just took Micro 1. It was the first class I took back to school after 30 years. Not a good idea. Got a C. Kinda bummed but I got through it ok. I wasn't able to take a Bio 1 course before (they were filled). So I thought what the heck. I work 4 days a week. Alot of peeps tell me that a C is good in Micro considering my age (50) and I haven't been in school for years. "I took the tought one first". I could have used a bit more time to study. My teacher wasn't great either. No reviews for rediculous tests. Oh well. I am glad I got a C. I need to take alot of my sciences over again. I would like to somehow get at least a 3.0 before I even thinking of applying to NS. Oh and I work in a Microbiology Lab in a hospital. I prep the specimens before incubation etc. It is a tough course, but I would recommend to anyone to check ratemyprofessor.com to see what the mo is on the prof you are considering taking if you are concerned. The prof can make or break the class (sometimes). I checked my micro prof and she rated awful. I learned and will check for future profs ! Hope this helps you guys who are nervous about the course. :-)

Specializes in none.

I am taking a fun load as well...A&P 2 + Micro. I am excited about my A&P class, I have an awesome professor. In Micro& A&P2 lab I have a HARD professor (a good one though, she wrote the book), in Micro lab I have a night professor...a wild card. Then I took speech as an easy class. I am just looking forward to finishing the pre-reqs so that I can start nursing school.
