Who's taking Microbiology for fall 2010?

I'm taking it at a local community college to fulfill my pre-req requirements! :) It's my LAST PRE-REQ! *so excited*

I've been accepted into "intended nursing" at La Salle University in Philadelphia and all they're waiting on are my NLN PAX scores and microbiology grades.

I thought we could use this thread to band together with other microbio students this quarter.

I am taking micro over the summer and have 3 weeks left. It hasn't been too bad. Fair amount of work with a couple of presentations and group project in the mix, but interesting. It's sort of exciting to work in a level 2 lab and work with things like MRSA.

Our group is doing a project involving MRSA and breastmilk and it was amazing to see our seeded plates and the big zones of inhibition around the breastmilk filled wells.

I wish you all the very best in Microbiology. I took it over the summer and while I wouldn't say it was really, really hard, the study time it demands is significant.

Like A&P it has a good amount of "physiology" to it. You will learn how pathogenic microbes operate as well as how the human immune system responds and what strategies it has for dealing with them.

It's a fascinating course and even though I am glad to be done with it, I have to admit that I envy you your introduction to what is, really, the entryway to pathophysiology, immunology, pharmacology and a lot of other things it will be very important to have a handle on as nurses.

I'm taking Micro and A&P1 this semester and I'm crazy nervous with all of the work involved. I just keep telling myself that I *CAN* do this. Good luck everyone!

Yup! I am taking micro this fall as well. I start class August 30th. I am taking A&P II as well. I took A&P I last semester and I thought that was a lot of work! It is the reading that takes the longest; the material is so dense! Anyways, hopefully we all study the same chapters at the same time so we can help each other out! Best of luck to everyone!
