Microbiology fall 2010

Who's taking Microbiology for fall 2010?

I'm taking it at a local community college to fulfill my pre-req requirements! :) It's my LAST PRE-REQ! *so excited*

I've been accepted into "intended nursing" at La Salle University in Philadelphia and all they're waiting on are my NLN PAX scores and microbiology grades.

I thought we could use this thread to band together with other microbio students this quarter.

Yup, good luck to you too Gavinsmom!

I'm starting my class at Montgomery CC on September 2nd (or 3rd? I forget).

7:00-10:00pm Tuesday and Thursday. Fun stuff.

After getting an A in A&P taught by a notoriously difficult, but great, professor (class avg was D+), I'm hoping Micro this fall will be a breeze.

I can hope, can't I? haha. Good luck everyone.

D+? Oh wow, that's awful. Our class average for A&P 1 and 2 was about low 70s, so what's normally expected.

I got an 89.9% in A&P2, but the teacher was adamant about no bumping no matter what. :crying2:

I just finished Microbiology (Summer School...15 weeks into 10 weeks). The class was a killer; I managed to get a B by 2.5 points!!! In 10 weeks we had 5 lecture exams, 2 Lab Practicals, 2 Case Studies, 1--15 minute power point presentation, an unknown organism report that had to be presented in a brochure format and lab notebooks were due 2 times during the session (and I probably forgot something...) The class was interesting but the amount of work required was insane! About 1/2 the class dropped and girls were crying after the final!!! Be prepared to spend A LOT of time on this class.

Signing in for fall Micro:yeah:Good luck to all :D

I am also taking Micro for the second time around...took in 2007 made a "C"...hopefully an "A" this time! Good luck!

I'm Taking Micro too this Fall. And a Nutrition course plus Anatomy and Physiology first semester so I am planning on having my hands full... I hope it all turns out for the best :) Really glad to have an online support group already though!!!

Glad all of you are here. This *should* be the last prereq to allow me to apply to four schools this coming year. Here in CA, the programs are seriously impacted. Micro is a little intimidating (mostly mastering the lab techniques).

I am taking it this fall as my last pre-req as well. I've been accepted to Duke for their accelerated program starting Jan ... Woo hoo! Am glad for this thread as I would like the support. Took my a and p classes at a different community college and so don't know anyone at this one. Good luck all!

I am taking micro over the summer and have 3 weeks left. It hasn't been too bad. Fair amount of work with a couple of presentations and group project in the mix, but interesting. It's sort of exciting to work in a level 2 lab and work with things like MRSA.

Our group is doing a project involving MRSA and breastmilk and it was amazing to see our seeded plates and the big zones of inhibition around the breastmilk filled wells.
