Microbio, Ochem, Hum Anatomy.. is it really possible??

Published

hello all!

let me first say that i'm pretty new to allnurses.com. however, what i have read on this site has been incredibly helpful, and i look forward to the support and insight that so many of you can share.

i'm writing because i am about to embark on a tough spring semester (starting next week)....

my schedule includes micro, anatomy, and ochem... i'd like to take all 3 this semester because it would leave me with just physiology in the summer. but!!!! i would like a reality check from any of you who have taken these three at the same time or any of you who can give advice for taking such a strenuous load.

i am considering taking just anatomy and ochem (saving micro for the summer)- but i'd like to get as many done as possible.

the reason why i ask is because i need to get a's in these courses... i am pursuing a second degree bsn, and previously underperformed in my first bachelors (business management). therefore i'd like to continue keeping my 4.0 gpa in all of my pre req's to make me a stronger candidate.

while i understand that all things are possible if u work hard enough at them, i also would like to be realistic about what i am about to take on..

what do you all suggest??

1) stick to all 3

2) spread out the load, and take physiology and micro in the summer

thanks in advance for you advice!!!!

Not to be negative....BUT if someone ELSE is paying the rent, health and car insurance, electricity, heat, food, etc.. not to mention tuition, books, etc..... it can be done. Doing this and working full time to live IS/and would be very difficult. Motivation is the best thing in the world but I'm only doing one class a semester because life has not given me the pleasure of someone else paying the bills.

"Not to be rude.... "BUT I never thought this site was a place to tear others down, especially those who are pursuing the same career as yourself, and looking for a advice from others going through it. To set things straight, so that your eyes stop rolling... I am afforded the opportunity to take 3 classes BECAUSE i was laid off from my previous full time 60+ hrs a week job. I am FORTUNATE enough to have been able to save enough money that has provided me to pay my own way (education, food, healthcare, etc). It baffles me as to why you'd even leave a message if there was nothing of importance that you had to contribute. I wish you luck in your personal endeavors of nursing, but wish that you'd hold back your own pre judgement before putting me into a box of privilege or whatever you call yourself doing.

I would not take micro and anatomy in the same semester. Too much memory classes, your brain will get full and explode. If you were good at hybridization and VESPR theory from gen chem, Ochem should not be too bad, not as much math as gen chem.

bcjones: MY apologizes; I agree with you. I really am sorry and this board is NOT a place for me to vent my problems. Must of been the full moon...can I just delete that post? Again, I am sorry...it was a bad day but no excuses. Thank you for the wake up call.

:lol2: and that can't be good.

Not sure where you are in your studies but I split Micro & Anatomy. I have ended up taking mirco while in the nursing program. Kinda tough but it beated taking three sciences together. Good luck!!!

Well,I'm taking all 3 this semester myself but it's A&P 2 for me. I'm in my 2nd semester of o.chem. and I'm surprised by people that say it is easy. Is there a different o.chem. just for nursing compared to science majors? I'm in a class with a mixture of pharm/premed majors and they are with me that it is really hard. I'm starting to get a complex about my intelligence...lol.

My advice is if you are strong in biology take all 3 because that is the majority of your workload. The only way I wouldn't take all 3 is if you are super uncomfortable with the chemistry aspect. Good luck either way!

^ o damn lol. In my school, the allied health/nursing o'chem is an intro to an organic/biochemistry, and the real organic chemistry is actually a hell of hard class...the ones the premed/any science major takes.

Thanks guys you just got me motivated to get off of here and study!!!

I am taking anatomy, anatomy lab math and an english class. It is killing me, the english class so far is easy, however the anatomy is a ton of stuff to memorize and we have tests everyweek. I am working fulltime also and its already taking its toll on me. I need lots of help to stay motivated and get through this!!!

I WILL MAKE IT!
