Micro whining

This is getting hard and I'm scared I can't do well enough to get the grade I need. :sofahider I'm not a quitter and I don't usually whine (too much outside my own head), but I had to share this with people who would understand.

It is even better to have a few who really know what you are dealing with.

This is exactly how I feel about folks here. I'm fairly new to posting on this board, but its SO good to have friendly people who know what's going on and how hard it is. As an older student its hard to make friends like that at school and while my family and other friends are trying to be supportive, its just not the same. Looking forward to making friends here :)

Hi guys! I remember my days in nursing school (a LONG time ago) and the trauma of A&P and Micro! You will make it I promise! Mirco is a lot of memorization and I found a few things that were really helpful for me. First, I recopied my notes when I got home after every class. It really helped me review what we went over. Second, flashcards, flashcards, flashcards.... that was the only way I could remember every bacteria/virus etc. Keep them in your bag/purse etc and go over them whenever you have down time that will help. Even if you hate it now, I PROMISE it will be useful to you once you start working. It will make it easier to understand how vaccines work, why people get sick with certain infections, why they are on certain antibiotics etc. Hang in there!

Awww. How nice. Thank you. I kind of like having friends. It is even better to have a few who really know what you are dealing with. I have a few who arent in school, but they dont really know what all I am going through, or why I am doing it.

Most people have no earthly idea how difficult the prerequisits for nursing are.

The same with my neighbor who has left the country and worked in Iraq for a while....she came back and was surprised that I was '"still at it".

I just found out today that only 2 people from all sections combined made an A with our teacher on teh first lecture test, I am one of them....I couldn't imagine her doing it any better or faster than me. People drop dead like flies in my class with an average of 61, inclulding the snooty pre med student who discredited my BioChem class .....nobody understands unless they have been there and done it themselves. Don't let anyone irritate you and keep going like you have. You got friends here :wink2:

Thanks for those encouraging words. I do a lot of copying my notes over simply because they are so messy from writing so fast. I always keep my notes with me, everywhere I go.

I understand how you feel. Most of the pre-requisite students are early 20s to mid 30's. YOu hang in there. You will always find encouragement here. :wink2:

Oftentimes a relationship changes or even ends when one is taking a different direction and upsets the Status Quo. True friends will support you, be the first ones to help if you need it and take a step back and wait until you are ready to rejoin. Maybe it's time for new friends....some people just stay stuck and won't grow. You are doing so well with school, keep studying hard, I know i will!!!!!

That's so the truth! We sat for our first major exam in Micro on Monday and our class is easily down a third from the first day. Even lost my lab partner who I knew from a previous class - she's been gone now 2 labs in a row. While I'm sorry things didn't work out for her, she was always asking me questions while the prof gave instructions at the beginning of lab, so better for me. Is that awful to think??? :chair:

My partner in A&P was also with me in Micro and dropped just the other day....now I am all by myself :rolleyes: But I have hooked up with two nice people in the aisle next to me.

Students who continuously ask questions and interrupt you during lecture are a nuisance...they should wait until afterwards. Keep up the good work, I've been in classes where only a handful of students were left at the end. And once again I am very glad that you are getting the hang of things. Your hard work and spending extra time are paying off.
