RN & BS but need BSN! HELP!

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi everyone. I have been trying to figure this out and have actually asked a couple of schools' advisors about this. I hope someone can help me with my dilemma!

I got my BS in Sociology while doing Pre-Med. When I realized that starting a family was more important to me than spending the next 7 years of my life in Medical School, I went ahead and attended a Community College (Cheaper and less requirements) and got my ADN. Now, I am at the point in my life where I want to further my career and apply for the Nurse Anesthetist program. However, every school that offers this program requires a BSN!

MY QUESTION: Is there any school (I live in MI) where I don't have to redo all my nursing courses or have to retake all my General Education classes (psych, english, anthro, etc..)? I was hoping there would be a school that takes all the classes that transferred over from my university and accept my RN so I would not have to spend another 2-3 years trying to get my BS

PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you looking for a brick and mortar school or online program to complete degree?

What exactly are you looking for -- a school that will not make you take ANY nursing courses? A school that will not require any supportive coursework in other fields? Are you expecting a school to simply grant you a BSN without requiring you to take any courses?

No RN-BSN program makes you re-do all your original nursing courses. The nursing classes that you have to take in an RN-BSN program are different from the ones you took for your ADN.

All RN-BSN will require you to take some nursing classes. You need to take the types of classes that are part of a BSN program, but not part of an ADN program. Your ADN courses alone are not sufficient for the BSN: you will need to take additional nursing classes, but not the same ones over again.

Just about all schools will accept some of your previous college work as credit towards your BSN. However, virtually all schools have some particular classes you will need to take that you might not have taken as part of your original education. You may need to take specific science courses or psychology courses, etc. Exactly what courses you will need to take depends on what courses you have already taken and the specific school.

All that is assuming you went to an accredited school to begin with.

What the person above stated..I am currently enrolled in a RN-BSN program..I didn't have to take any prereqs as they accepted all mine from my previous degree (I had already taken Stats and Nutrition). They normally credit you 30 credits for your RN degree, but you have take at least 30 credits from the school you are attending to graduate. Sorry, it is just one of those things you going to have suck it up and do.

I thought there were (some) CRNA programs that would take RNs with other BA/BS degrees (not BSN). Has that changed?
