Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

I'll be attending the accelerated program! I had applied here, fiu and barry for accelerated. I got accepted to all three but I'll be going to miami dade mostly because of the $$$ and I imagine it's less course work than fiu and barry since there's are the same amount of time but BSN. I'd rather it take a little longer but thoroughly learn everything. Baby steps for me I guess. I'll also have to quit my job due to the schedule. I kinda mapped out the classes schedule in a way I understand to start mentally preparing for the new schedule. For those that do not got accepted, do not give up! Where there is a will there is a way. You can always take science classes to raise your science GPA. Or "easy" classes to raise cum gpa. Or get a BS and then do accelerated. Trust me that if you want to be a nurse, you WILL be a nurse.

Lita611 are you sure people can take any science classes to raise their science gpa? I thought there were specific science classes that counted towards that gpa? For ex. A&P 1&2, A&P 1&2 lab, MCB2010, CHM1033/L. Instead they count total science ever taken ??

Lita611 are you sure people can take any science classes to raise their science gpa? I thought there were specific science classes that counted towards that gpa? For ex. A&P 1&2, A&P 1&2 lab, MCB2010, CHM1033/L. Instead they count total science ever taken ??

I'm 100% positive because I originally took my sciences in FIU but I got mostly B's and C's. Then I retook all of them (except one lab) during one semester at MDC (crazy semester). I got all A's and an A- in a lab. And now when I look at me degree audit the science GPA is supposedly 3.94.

Congrats to those who got in. Hopefully tomorrow there will be more emails sent out. It's tough waiting for an answer.
