Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

U.S.A. Florida

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

I don't think that 3.5 thing is 100 % true because I know someone who got into the program that starts in August with a B average in her sciences and her NLN was average....keep your hopes up and don't let what people say get you off track. Trust me between now and October I'm pretty sure there is going to be a lot of speculations going on

So true!

Yeah true, even the advices don't know what's going on so all we have left its hope and keep thinking positive and wait :)

I am so glad I found this thread. It's too difficult to cope with this whole process of registration and acceptance letters without a support system, and I think I just found that!!! :)

I'm also planning to register for Spring 2015, most probably at Medical Campus. I am taking my last prerequisites this summer but I'll go tomorrow to talk to an advisor to see if I can already register, since it seems there is not more NLN test.

I'll let you know how it went.

Hi Yaritanew and welcome! I agree with you in regards to the support system. This is a lot to go through alone, especially if friends and family aren't in the same boat. I know my boyfriend is tired of listening to me go on and on about this whole process :)

Good luck to everyone applying tomorrow! If you can, try to find out what the cut-off might be for both of the GPAs.:x3:

I applied today...They didn't have an actual cut off for GPAs other than you have to have at least a 2.5....She did however tell me that my chances were "very good" So I guess I'll just have to wait until October to see how true that is...btw there are a lot of people applying

Thank you Ariel for asking for me. I am sure you will get accepted. I, on the other hand, have decided to look at other options just in case. At first, I had all of my eggs in one basket, with MDC as my only choice. I decided last night that I would spend the better part of today looking into other programs. So that's exactly what I did. I know we are all in the same boat here, and I hope that we all get accepted, but I don't think we worked this long and this hard to hit a wall. All we can do is apply and wait. Did I mention before that the last Spring class received their letters on the 17th of October?

Also, I wanted to ask you, when you say a lot of people were applying, do you mean more people than normal? Did an advisor tell you this or is this just your own observation? Thanks!

It was just my observation. And yes the more choices you have is always better. Yes thanks for the info I had also looked to see when the last spring group got in lol. What other programs did you find if you don't mind sharing

And also they mentioned that who ever got accepted had to do a mandatory three day bootcamp

I couldnt go to apply today, will try to go anytime this week. Also I have been looking others options just in case i dont get accepted. My dream is to become a nurse and a gpa or bad choices that I did in the past with my classes wont stop me. My second choice is barry and I know is very expensive but hopefully when I graduate, I will be able to pay those loans. Lets see what its going to happen with our lifes and we will be in this together in this journey until october lol. Good night everyone
