Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

By the way what campus you guys attend to, I go to the homestead campus

I do believe in god and I know everything happens for a reason he already has everything planned out for us I have faith and hope that I will receive my email in October :)

Great! I am sorry to touch such a personal topic, but it seemed fitting.

Good Morning ladies,

I will go on Monday and apply and see what they say, I havent finished micro yet but they told me I can still apply and my grades will be posted in July and then they will put it on my application or something like that. But at least I will be there already and not one of the last one to apply, my understanding is that a lot of people are applying to the program so I better hurry up. I will post on Monday how everything go. :nailbiting::nailbiting:

I hope all goes well, and please be sure to let us know how everything goes. Remember, the deadline to apply is Sept. 1, so you are fine! I hope the school isn't trying to create panic by telling applicants to hurry up. By the way, is that what they are telling you? If so, they should know better than anyone that it isn't first come, first serve. What they will probably do (and this is pure speculation) is take the pool of applicants (after all applications have been turned in) and use some sort of filtering system to weed out the first round of students. What do you think?

Nooo, they didnt tell me to hurry up its me who wants to go and apply but they did told me that a lot of people are applying. I dont know how are they going to choose the students for spring but what I can tell you its that its something new what its happening and I dont think it will be like this the others semesters, I think when they figure out a new test or improve the nln they will put it again as a pre-requisite. I dont what is going to happen with us but God has his plan and we are in it.

I was being really positive but then after hearing from previous students that's they only take 3.5 gpas and highers :/ I'm scare and miami dade is my only choice and with my 3.1 I don't know how it's going to work.

For sure we are in it!

Who told you that they only accept 3.5 or higher yuremaa?

Yuremaa, I just answered my own question. Anyway, every semester is different because every semester there is an entirely new pool of applicants. A 3.5 is super competitive, so there is a really high probability that that person will get in, but it doesn't mean that a gpa below isn't acceptable either. Seriously, don't listen to the rumors, it will only drive you mad. I think the first NLN group really threw them for a loop. It was the first time the school utilized that exam, and I don't believe the scores were what they expected; hence the removal of the exam. So, this could all be very convenient for us. I think we should all just mentally prepare ourselves for the tough road ahead. I have heard that the retention rate isn't too high, as many students leave the program midway. If that is true, we need to keep this in mind and get organized as best as we can in order to do our best academically.

I don't think that 3.5 thing is 100 % true because I know someone who got into the program that starts in August with a B average in her sciences and her NLN was average....keep your hopes up and don't let what people say get you off track. Trust me between now and October I'm pretty sure there is going to be a lot of speculations going on

You are so right :) we all need to keep our hopes up and only god knows why we here :) but also I seen that people with 2.8 will start in the fall so I say to my self I been in college for 2 years stressful nights with my AA compare to keep waiting for a response is nothing so ima be more positive than ever and be ready to start in spring :) it's just about luck to me :)
