Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

What kind of loan? Fed subsudized, unsubsidized, perkins? Who offers 9500? I applied this morning for Federal Unsubsidized loan, awaiting reply.

Lurdes Chemistry is easy; if u already took Microbiology and Anatomy Chemistry is nothing . I took it with Giselle Rosquete at Wolfson; I am not gonna lie you have to study but you could get an A.

MDC offers the Sttafford Loan but this Finalcial Aid advisor was telling me that is the only loan I could apply for. The only students who could apply for other loans are the PTAs o PAs I do not remember now. I am guessing he meant MDC loans but I can apply for other loans outside MDC, right>?

I will look into Rosquette, thank you. I was told that I cannot take Micro without completing Chemistry. So next semester I plan for AP2 and Chem, both with labs, and leave Micro, Dep2000 and HSC0003 for summer.

Oh that's rights; u have to take Chem first, She was great and helpful. Hope that helps, I wasn't hard for me to get an A with her. Good luck )

Oscararnold - have you applied online for Stafford loan? They directed me to an online application. I am not eligible for Fed.Sub, so I applied for Fed. Unsub and if denied will apply for Stafford and Perkins. I dont think MDC offers you anything, those are government loans. Stafford Loan Information | StaffordLoan.com

About mdc loans the maximum is 9500 if you are independent above 24 if u are less than 24 they only give you 5500. I already apply for a loan because the year is from august to spring or spring to summer if you requestes on spring. They give you the money in two parts 4750 in one semester and $4750 in the other semester so if you are interested in loans I recomend you to apply in fall. What im going to do is that with my income taxes I and loan i will pay the whole year rent and then will work part time for gas and car insurance. They recommend not to work but if you need to the max hours they say its 24 hours a week. I dont know if you can ask for other loans outside mdc, I dont think its possible but you dont lose anything asking other schools

That is what they told me; they recommended me to apply for the Stanford Loan and they money will be giving to me in two parts as u mentioned before. They do not offer any other options so that's it. I guess I will have to talk to my boss, see if he would let me work ONLY Saturdays and adjust my lifestyle.

I already talked to my boss and told her the maximum days I can work is three days and still will be a lot with school but lets see. We need to remember that is only a year and a half amd we are close to our goal.

Yes let's be positive and think we can do it; we will be so busy that the year will go by real fast.

r u close to downtown or the homestead campus ? If I get in I believe I'll be going to the MIAMI campus they choose for U according to your zip code .

Im close to miami campus actually very close, so hopefully I will be attending there.
