Hi all!
I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)
hey all!! gpa's are awesome, i think you all have good chances of getting in. I'm just wondering if anyone has taken microbiology with Meera Nair over at the kendall campus, she kind of have okay ratings but i would like to hear more about her class if anyone could help me whith this i would truly appreciate it. thank you
My science is 2.79 but it dont matter. I'm very motivated to find a way to get it. For the PA program you need a science of 2.7 and up. I still have hope for the nursing program. For Micro I don't know that professor but that class was hard for me. First C in science.
Hi All,
My Business Administration degree was evaluated and somehow College Math was not waived. I am really frustrated - with 6 math, 2 statistics and a bunch of finance management classes under my belt you would think that MAC 1105 should be waived, right?
Not sure what to do, if I have to take math that will set me back the whole semester.
Match department or math? Could be both :)I emailed advisement and if needed will email further up. This is nonsense. I can understand that if I had an Arts degree with no math. But business degree is ALL math! Accounting, finance, etc.
Freakin phone with the auto words. Go directly to the math department, print out your degree audit and tell them that you we were send by an advisor, ask them if they can do a class exemption or if doing the clep exam will work for the nursing program, but mainly ask for a class exception, show them all the math courses that you have taken. Good luck.

I took Micro with her. The class is ok, lots of reading and homework. You need to do 4 exams, one of them is online. (The hardest one) quizzes every week online, homework online. If you read the powerpoints and do the practice questions online you will be ready for the exams. She gives extra credit points in the exams with 10 " fill in the blank questions" I almost didnt do the readings but somehow was able to pull and A in the class.
You just need to study and try not to feel overwhelmed by the details, focus on understanding the bigger picture and main concepts.
So I went today and applied for Spring 2015. The process was straightforward. Waited in line, met with advisor at the Medical Campus, went over my degree audit, got application papers, paid the fee, filled the papers and now the horrible waiting begins.
Advisor said that mid October is the likely date in which acceptance letters will go out. Also the advisor said that because there is no entrance exam this semester there are even more applicants for the program. So the competition is gonna be fierce.
60% Of application criteria is Science classes GPA.
40% Of application criteria is cumulative GPA ( means all the classes ever taken at any college)
I had 4.0 In Sciences, 3.89 Cumulative. I hope there are not too many 4.0 Cumulative GPA applying. Lol.

You should try to speak with one of the higher up, MAC 1105 was waived because I had statistic, finite math and had taken the CLAST exam. Rules change often at MDC but you should try till one of the higher up tells you absolutely no.
