Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Thanks a lot!!!!

You're welcome!! She said that yes, it is accepted by MDC. She renewed her CPR certification there for MDC, and has been using them for 10 years. She is an LPN and going into the bridge program this Fall. I will be going there for my certification as well.

Perfect thanks so much

Does anyone have an idea of how they calculate our possible score? 60% science and 40% cumulative GPA. If I'm already having problem figuring this out imagine when with take dosage calculation class. Lol.

lol @ threat !!:) I am also reading the other thread, which is very illustrative and yes that's the hot topic, the allnurses app. Here is the link https://allnurses.com/florida-nursing/rn-generic-full-893057-page256.html to part of the thread bc its really long, but I highly recommend it bc there is a lot of great information there. Students like us, struggling to get accepted into MDC Nursing program and now with the admission process.

Lol ? Yarita Thank you very much for the link.

Lol funny that I receive notifications from the link you just posted. Lots of info... I've asked them questions too, we all spy everywhere Lol.

Ok, I found another thread that states the same as the other as far as how MDC will calculate the GPAs. I am super relieved, because if this is true, I have a cum GPA of 3.61 and natural science of 3.53. I was taking into account all of the classes I had taken for my previous major as far back as 1997. I even saw an advisor at Hmstd, and she didn't even clear that up for me. Now I have to pass the computer test and I can apply :) I don't know what this means in terms of getting accepted, but I feel soooo much better!!!
you can check in your degree audit at the bottom it says your science gpa and cumulative but you have to choose AS nursing when signing in.

Thanks yuremaa! When I look at my degree audit, it shows all 153 credits (most are non-nursing related) that I have taken in my college career, and uses those courses to calculate my GPA. An advisor told me that the school manually calculates the science GPA using the 7 science courses. The degree audit is great for students who have only taken nursing pre-req's, but for me, it isn't accurate :(

Sperky so they do the science calculation on their own so we don't even have an idea how we are doing. You are ok, you GPA is good, but mine is a bit lower. Thanks for the info. Everything is so confusing.

BLNurse, we do have an idea, because we can calculate it on our own based on our final grades for all 7 required natural science courses, and the credit hours we received for each. When I spoke with Dawn Diamond at the Medical Campus, she told me that the science GPA will not be reflected on my degree audit because I have taken so many other courses. She stated that they will isolate those 7 required courses, and make their GPA calculation based on those numbers. I am sure you are doing well also. I hope that all of us on this thread get accepted; that would be so amazing!!!

Sperky I have a lot of science classes too from I previous career I've started but never finish. I don't even have financial aid bc of excessive credits. I have paid a few of me prerequisites out of pocket. That will be great if all here get accepted. I will apply January bc I'm taking my last pre reque this fall.

Decided to join allnurses today, and seeking admission for Spring 2015 as well.
