Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Hey guys, I was just reading a post on allnurses in regards to Miami Dade's selection criteria. This person said that the school will use only the pre-requisite courses (general education and natural science) required for the program into consideration. They stated that if MDC took all classes into consideration, students would just take easy courses (non-nursing related) just to boost their GPA. Also, some students like me have had previous majors, and the school isn't concerned with those courses.

Has anyone else heard this?

Hey Lillian! So what about SPC 1017, DEP 2000, MAC 1105, and MCB 2010? Those are all pre-req's as well. They don't use these courses as well to calculate your GPA?Thanks for your response :)

It's a speech class. I'm taking next semester. SPC1017

Sorry, I thought you were asking what is SPC. We all need everything listed in order to apply.

Hi BLNURSE, and thanks for responding as well. These courses were excluded on the FAQ page on the nursing website, so I was asking Lillian about these to double check.

I was a pre-dental major when I first started school, and I have an overload of classes I was required to take that I don't feel should be used as part of the equation.

I have not idea, I just put what its on the webpage that Blnurse told me. I need to go and ask but i have been busy and i will go next month when im done with summer classes

Lili micro is needed but I guess they don't take in consideration to apply.

This is so stressful that I cant even sleep thinking about it, im not an A student most of my classes are B's and I know more students are applying for spring because there is not entrance exam.

Lili don't stress out. I understand. I'm in the same situation. There are other options, but I'm sure the best GPAs will have better chances and now that there is no entrance test, Oh Lord. I can see millions of applications. Never lose hope !!! We are going to make it happen either way. I have to Apply Jan 2015 for Fall. Still a long wait.

Do you know if we can apply to different Campus I'm also considering homestead even though I live 1hr away.

Thanks for your support, if O dont get accepted, Ineill try to apply for Barry. I dont know if we can apply for both campuses but will ask when I go to apply.
