Miami Dade College Nursing Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd start this topic for us students applying at MDC Nursing for the Spring 2019 semester. There's an existing one but it's from 2017.

So here's a little about me. I took my Hesi yesterday and I scored 80%. My Science GPA is 3.6. My overall competitive score is 84%. I applied for the Full Time Generic and the Accelerated programs. My preference is full time generic but I can do either one. I feel good about this and I know I will be starting nursing school in January (I don't really know but I'm putting it out there. POSITIVITY!)

I'm really excited about this and I can't wait to start. Worst part is the waiting to find out. In the meantime, I'm looking at all the information necessary post admission so that I'm ready to roll once I get my letter.

Good luck to all who applied!

Hi everyone, I got accepted into Generic Homestead Program. So excited, quick question which probably has been asked, sorry if it sounds dumb, how do we register or pick our nursing classes? Is it after orientation?

Congrats May will be right around the corner. I’m going over there to see your journey

Hello,

I really need some help on clarifying on the nursing program. I want to apply for the ASN degree and then do my BSN, but it says I need to complete the pre-requisites first for ASN which I do not have. Do I have to do the Associate Degree in Arts (Pre-Nursing) to complete the pre-requisites and then apply for ASN? Thankyou!!

Yes you need all your prerequisites. I have a BA in business and switched careers and so they were able to use a few but not all of my classes for prereqs. If you are going in for your nursing prereqs make sure to take stats and micro lab since both are required for the nursing bachelors. I didn’t and not that I’m graduating with nursing asn I have to go back and take those classes to go for the bsn. AND if you don’t have those you won’t even qualify for the Baptist program which is a great program!

Check out the mdc website for the prereqs that are required for both BUT also go and talk to an advisor. It’s always reassuring when they check off the classes on the advising paper

Thank you for your help! I would go in to talk to an advisor but Im from Toronto Canada but I do plan on coming to Miami to talk to an advisor. How did you apply to take your pre-requisit courses? Did you do it through the Associate Degree in Arts Pre-Nursing?

You can’t apply to the nursing program until the prerqs are done. Once you are done then you apply BUt you need to take the HESI entrance first AND applying has to be done IN PERSON at the nursing school. Benjamin leon building (medical campus)
