MGHIHP ABSN Spring 2015

Published

Hello applicants! The time is coming close to finding out if we are in or not, just checking in with others. From last year's thread it seems around 8/31 we will know! Good luck all!!

Congrats for those who have been accepted! I will also be starting in Spring 2015!

Has anyone heard anything regarding the wait list? :nailbiting:

iHealthy or anyone else in the program: Are you able to tell me what an average week looks like during the semester? Also, do we have clinicals during the breaks in between semesters?

applying to the ABSN program for Summer 2015... just a little worried about finishing up anatomy this winter and finishing human development in february. how many prereqs did you have at the time of acceptance? so far my prereqs have been all A's with 1 A+ and i had my anatomy teacher submit a grade report.

The only prereq I did not have completed in time for the application deadline was Microbiology. The applications were due July 1, and I think my Micro class ended somewhere around July 14th. I was able to submit my grade after the application deadline. Other than that, I had all my prereqs done.

Same here...I applied for summer 2015 and I'll finish micro this December.

I had all my prereqs done. I really think it's incredibly important to have all if not, 5 out 6 completed. I knew at least 3 students that applied and didn't get in, and MGH told them to apply again after they finished their prereqs. Try to finish them all if possible.

I agree, prereqs are important as it helps them gauge your ability etc.

Does anyone know about working while in the program? I've heard mixed things from alumni - I guess it all depends on the person and your learning ability/time management and I suppose what you know coming into the program. I'm pretty sure the program is frontloaded? So I'm assuming the first so many weeks are near impossible to do much. I'm trying to gauge if it is possible to work about 20 hours a week somewhere within walking distance to the school.

@Boston_RN2B Did they do well with the prereqs they had already applied?

I don't know what their grades were, but at this level I assume most people are getting good grades or have exceptional experience. One of them was a Chemistry teacher and they accepted her the second time she applied after finishing the prereqs. Put a lot of effort and time into your essay, I think people tend to underestimate as a deciding factor. It is the only way to really set yourself apart. Good Luck!

hoping for the best!
