MGH IHP DE NP 2018

Published

Hi There!

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone applying for Fall 2018 entry. I'm about 3/4 of my way through the application and feeling a bit anxious and nervous about it all but mostly excited! :)

Hi all,

Been reading through this thread today, very interesting haha. Got accepted into the psych. track and just put down my deposit today. I decided to make a Facebook group since no one has yet! It's called: MGH Institute of Health Professions Direct Entry Nursing Class Of 2021

And here's the group link: Log into Facebook | Facebook

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know if the Open house is just for students or if we are allowed to bring a guest?

Thanks!

Thanks for making the FB group!

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Thank you Ben, just joined the group, we are in the same track, see you in September and congrats on your acceptance.

Hi in terms of switching specialties- I've heard from current students that it is possible but very difficult to do so. There has to be a 1 to 1 switch. For example- if you are in the FNP program and wish to pursue an AG-ACNP program- someone would have to leave that specialty and want to switch into family.

Thank you for following up on this! Much appreciated.

And thanks to everyone else for your insights & comments in response to my questions from before.

It comes down to personal and professional fit - we all uniquely weigh and value different aspects of these decisions :) so I agree laying out the facts is important, and then assessing to what extent those facts fit in line (or not) to one's needs.

Congrats to those who have already decided / laid down the deposit! And good luck to the rest still deciding.

From a recent graduate of MGH in the DEN program, not having your BSN awarded will not be a factor in getting a job in Boston.

Also I had classmates from across the entire country and I had job interviews all across the country. All of my classmates have jobs and people only care about your certification and competence. No one cares about where you graduated from.

Hi everyone - does anyone know if we'll be receiving an admissions information packet or will we receive all the relevant information after we accept and place a deposit?

Hi friends! I was planning on going to the MGH Open House on Saturday.... but it's been canceled! ): I'm already making the trip to the east coast from California to visit Columbia as well, and this trip was supposed to help me decide what program to commit to. MGH said they were going to reschedule, but it's not really feasible for me to make changes on such a short notice and fly back out next week before we have to put our direct deposit down. Regardless of the storm/if there's an official tour I really wanna see the campus and get a feel for it, so if you have suggestions about what to look for on campus, who to contact, or even just nice things to check out nearby please let me know!!

This weather/cancellation is so frustrating!! I'd suggest contacting the program (nursing at mghihp dot edu) to see if they can set anything up for you while you're there. At the very least they might be able to identify current students who'd be willing to meet up and show you around the campus, or something along those lines. I haven't decided if I'm still flying up from PA, but I was also hoping to use this visit to decide between programs, and I'd imagine there a lot of admitted students in the same boat...

So I saw someone mention that people who applied around the 2/1 deadline are still having their applications reviewed... has anyone who applied after heard back? I haven't heard anything at all which is making me super nervous!

Hi kc1122, I applied around the 2/1 deadline and I'm still having my app reviewed too! I haven't heard anything yet either!
