MGH Direct-Entry MSN

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi! Is anyone else gearing up to apply to the MGH direct-entry MSN program beginning in 2012? I'm currently completing my pre-reqs at bunker hill community college. I'm also studying for the GRE and will be taking in a few weeks, as well as at the end of July. I'm super nervous but eager to apply. MGH is my top choice, but I'm also gonna apply to other programs in MA. I really wanna do a MSN program because I want to be a nurse practictioner. Anyone else in the same boat? :uhoh3:

I applied to Women's health Dual Adult at MGH and Women's Health at Regis. I am also applying to Northeastern, UMASS, Pace (NYC), and lastly and most unlikely Simmons.

My top choices are MGH and Regis because I really want to do Women's health. I applied early to Regis and was wait listed which I guess is a good sign because they could have taken that opportunity to reject me.

All my applications are in and waiting around for the next couple months is going to be brutal. MGH said by the end of March :(

Anyone have any info about when any of these schools send out decisions. I just want to know!

@heramay22 -- regarding regis, did you call their admissions office and schedule an interview with them? i read somewhere on their website that all applicants are responsible for scheduling their own interviews...did you schedule after they notify you that your application was complete? lastly, when did you get your decision? sorry about all the questions... i applied regular decision and would like to know how the rest of the process is going to pan out.....if you could shed some light, that'd be much appreciated. thanks!!!

regarding mgh, someone from admissions told me that decisions would be out 8-10 wks after the application deadline. good luck everyone!

I interviewed before I sent in my Regis application, I contacted the admissions counselor by email and set up an over the phone interview. It was very low key.

I got my letter on January 11th stating that I had been wait listed and would be re-reviewed (but not deferred to) with regular admission. Im having a little trouble understanding how that is different from deferal but I am just happy to not be rejected.

What specialty did you apply for?

And yes I heard that from MGH too I was just hoping that was just what they said and not the reality of it. I hate waiting.

thanks for the info heramay22. im applying for the fnp specialty. do you mind sharing with me what kind of questions you were asked during the interviews? any feedback on that process would be great. thanks in advance!!!

the waiting part is rather nerve-racking, but hang in there!! we're close to the end =D

Bluskyy,

I prepared a lot for the interview and then it kind of all went out the window. Pretty typical questions.

Why do you want to go into this field?

Why do you think Regis would be the right program for you?

Tell me about how you got to this point?

etc..

If you are able to describe why you want to be an NP and why you think you are a good fit for the career path and specifically for Regis you will be all set.

I applied for the Septeber 2012 class too - Adult/Gero. MGH was the only school I applied to. Getting anxious/excited that it's almost March.

I applied for the pediatric specialty at MGH. I've already started hearing back from other schools. It seems like MGH and Northeastern are so late!

hey everyone i am an ACNP applicant for the fall 2012 cohort. I am looking forward to getting some news..Hopefully we all hear sooner rather than later!

which schools have you already heard back from?

Did everyone get that email they sent out earlier today? It nearly gave me a heart attack. I knew they didn't come to a decision that quickly...

I got it too! I thought it might be an interview invite :( haha. Oh well!

HA - me too!

It seems like they're mostly just name changes, except I notice they lumped child/adult psych to become one "Lifespan" psych. Did anyone here choose a psych specialty?

Hope all is well - good luck to all of you, as we wait anxiously!
