:idea:Eh folks. Anyone has been accepted to MGH?? Could you please help me with some tips? I really need to get into the program next year. ;)

I applied to MGH's direct entry program but haven't heard back yet. I was under the impression that we'd be hearing about this time. Has anyone heard back yet?

The deadline for MGH applications was in January. Regis has rolling admissions though, you could still apply there. All the information is on their website under Direct Entry Nursing. Good luck!

If there's anything I learned from the admissions process, it's that there are no guarantees. I don't think anyone on here will be able to give you tips that will get you in someplace in particular. Just take your time, research programs, decided exactly which path to nursing you want to take and why. Express that in your essay. There are tons of qualified candidates with high gpas, diverse work experiences, and interesting volunteer/extracurricular/life experience experience, so all you can is try to set yourself apart instead of mimicking what someone else did to get accepted to a school

And be patient!!

You'r right lexhamgarden, and thanks, I guess I did not explain myself ok, I was wondering if the people accepted had experience in nursing, volunteer activities, if in the essay one should talk about the direction you want to take in nursing even if you are not a nurse. Any thing will be apreciated. I did not get accepted at NEU and my other chance will be MGH in Nov. so I have plenty of time to do more things. Give me you advice again please.Thnks

make sure you picked the best individuals to write your recommendation letter, Make sure your gpa is competitive, do whatever community service is available to you even if it is not as hands on as you would like ( most of my community service work was assisting spanish speaking patients with filling out medical history forms), and have multiple ppl review your personal essay. (alot of times your professors will be more than happy to review your essay if you give it to them early enough). Hope that helps :)

Hi, I was just accepted to MGH for the coming fall (I got my letter yesterday). Before I applied I talked to some individuals about what would help build my application and basically they look for people really dedicated to the field with prior Experience that backs up that dedication. I rook a CNA class last summer, volunteered at a hospital and worked as a homehealth aid this past fall. They also want people who plan to continue education/ consider teaching so even if you are just interested in either I would mention that in my essay, good luck!

I was also accepted for this coming fall. The only prior experience I had was working wwith disabled adults just after high school (14 years ago). When originally applying I spoke to admissions who said that a lot of candidates do not have prior experience.

Because of my little experience I focused on a strong essay which clearly expressed my dedication, strong recommendations fro

co-workers, and good grades from my prerequisite classes. The program is super competitive so you need to do your best to stand out on paper.

Oops I am kink of confused. MGH will start on fall?? I guess will be start on Spring semester??

The Direct Entry Masters has fall entry and the BSN has spring entry.

I just got accepted to MGH too, and i have a deposit down with regis now.... so im torn between MGH and Regis. anyone else deciding?

The IHP looks for diversity of experience and background, mostly. The class of 2012 is relatively diverse. The majority of my classmates are women in their 20s. There are around 10 of us who are male. The ethnic/cultural background isn't terribly diverse but there are representatives of a few different cultures in the class. I think I remember reading on the website that the average age of DEN students is 27. The age range is pretty broad (again, skewed towards the 20s). Anything you can bring to the program which will add richness or diversity of the program will enhance your chances of getting in. Emphasize what you think will add to the program, that is what they are really looking for (they'll tell you that if you ask them). The essay really, really counts a lot.

A handy guide (if you're a "non-traditional" applicant is this fact sheet re. the 2009 student body....

I hope that helps!
