MGH ABSN 2011

does anyone have any info about when we should be hearing back from admissions?

Hi All,

I finally found this thread sigh!!!! for the last couple of weeks have been on Stony brook thread which is kind of very interactive though. Anyway, I also got my acceptance letter yesterday with a scholarship offer. It sounds kind of silly now, I guess because it hasn't sunk yet, but am still in a dilemma as Stony Brook is my preference.

Though I like everything I read about the program so far on there website, but again am yet to interact with anyone who knows about the program. So does anyone know much about this program.

In the mean time, Congratulations to those who got accepted, and to those still awaiting the letter, I wish you good luck.

And thanks to Baby.catcher, who caught me on Stony brook thread today and invited me to this thread.

B.S. in Business Administration '07 -3.7 GPA

Pre-reqs 3.8 GPA

10 years work experience ranging from customer service to financial services

letters of rec from my current boss and 2 professors at bunker hill

I also applied to Stonybrook as a backup. Was going to apply to UMASS and Simmons, but now that I got in here I'm just gonna stick with this.

No idea how I'm gonna afford it, but gonna do fafsa, loans everywhere I can think of, and open a bunch of credit cards while I'm still working :) Also, living with my girlfriend and have some minor financial support from my parents. And buying stock in Ramen noodles :)

I applied to Northeastern as a backup, but now that I've gotten in to MGH I'm not interested in going to Northeastern. I also submitted my fasfa but haven't heard anything, I figured that we would hear about financial aid options once we let the school know if we are attending or not.

I graduated with a BA in Communication in 2006, 3.8 gpa, worked in staffing for 3 years and have been working in a hospital since May as a nursing assistant/unit coordinator. My recommendations were from an undergrad professor, nurse manager and coworker.

I'm looking forward to May but agree there is a lot to do until then! I think the time is going to go by a lot quicker than we all expect :)

Good luck to those still waiting to hear!!

Did anyone hear about January 2012 cohort in your decision letter?

I saw this on their web page today! This sounds like a great idea and a suitable option for those who did not get accepted but still have MGH as their priority choice for their ABSN. Like they said, so many qualified applicants are turned away simply because of the small cohort size.

Continued good luck to all those who re-apply for Jan 2012!

On my acceptance letter, I was given the option of either starting in May 2011 or start in Jan 2012 inaugural class.

I was offered to stay on the waitlist for the May class but also offered early admission to the new January 2012 class. I am going to simply wait for the January 2012 class. I am afraid that waiting to hear about the May class will take too long and I won't hear until April. Good luck to everyone who got it & congrats! If anyone is looking for information about the program, I found a blog from last year and people posted very helpful information! Type in the search box MGH ABSN 2010.

Hope everyone finds this helpful :)

allymaryturner12: i was also waitlisted for the may class but offered a spot in the january inaugural class. i couldn't believe it even after speaking to someone in admissions. i guess we will be classmates! have you responded to their offer yet? just curious as to what the award letter will look like.

how is everyone else paying for this program??

i did not receive any information about awards in my acceptance letter so i am willing to assume that i will not get any scholarship from mgh. i filled out fasfa and i am waiting for a response from mghihp about my financial aid package(probably once i am officially enrolled after deposit). taking outside loans in addition to fasfa is inevitable.

the scholarship pages i have checked do not seem promising. most will not apply to a second bachelors degree, many have expired and a lot are reserved for minority students entering nursing. anyone else experiencing the same situation?

congratulations to those accepted! I was offered early admission to the January class in 2012 also.
