OK, instead of whining about being a minority, let's find out how many of us have leveraged our advantage to find a mate. My wife and I worked together for years before dating. We continued to work the same shifts on the same floor for a dozen years.

How very cool, MrNurse(x2)! This situation must mean that you and the Mrs. get along privately and professionally!

I met Belinda on the Gero Psych unit back in '06. I immediately liked her- she was a student nurse at that time, did her job, and was great with the patients. Near the end of the shift, a group of employees were sitting around chatting and I found out some personal info about her- age, separated from her spouse for one year (as I was), worked 17 years running a lab, etc.

We got together at IHOP about a week later, dated, cohabitated within a year, and got married in '13.

Belinda has worked back on the Gero Psych unit only a couple of times, as she typically works Med/Surg, and all has gone well.

One of the greatest things about both of us being nurses is the support and discussing our work.

Neat topic to start a thread about, MrNurse(x2)!

Men in minorities of their profession are great partners, says the woman who married a social worker (although he wasn't one at the time.) We met at Walmart, believe it or not.

I would marry a nurse.

I met my husband when we were still in nursing school long ago, and we've been happily working together side by side for years. It's great!

Oh, I would marry a nurse if I was ever stupid enough to get married again, that is.

Specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

I would marry a nurse, if any of them were actually free on my unit/hospital.
