Memorial Hermann Summer 2016 Residency

Published

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for anyone out there applying to Memorial Hermann's Nurse Residency for Summer 2016!!

It's decent. They said they were trying to be more competitive on pay. They also gave us a packet about benefits but it was very vague. They offer tuition reimbursement but it didn't say how much, though it did say how much they offer for loan repayment. THR in dfw pays 24 an hr for new grads. I'm assuming that the cost of living is higher in Houston.

3 years ago base pay for new grad was $25, so they have gone up quite a bit since then.

That is only $1.00 less/hr than a friend of mine with 3 years experience makes at MH.

Cost of living in Houston is about equal with Dallas (depending on the area you compare between cities).

Tuition reimbursment is $3500/yr for advanced degrees, not sure about loan repayment.

Specializes in psych.

I meant fort worth, though it probably just depends on the area of the city. I think Texas health offers a better shift differential though compared to Hermann. Nurses there get 9 on weekends and 10 for weekend nights. And tuition reimbursement is 5250 for full time employees at THR. New grad at Hermann is 27.50hr.

Hey everyone, I went to match day TMC. I thought it was a great day. So, if we haven't heard any from TMC yet, we are technically not out of the running right ?

I just got a call from southwest about their second match day event. I submitted letters of recommendation at the match day at TMC, I wanted to boost my chances any way possible.

Does anyone know if TMC will be having a second match day event? I don't think they need to, they had over 300 people there on Tuesday. Does anyone know when we should hear from TMC?

I applied for NICU but they said we would know for sure by Monday

When is their second match day?

Oh okay, Monday. Thank you. I remember the Memorial Hermann Facebook advertised two match days the 22nd and 29th of March. Southwest just invited me to their second match day for the 29th. I feel that a second match day for TMC would be way too many choices for limited positions. Most units have between 4 and 5 spots. I think they had plenty of people there on the 22nd to choose from. I heard the ER for TMC only had 1 position available.

Dallas Fort Worth a metroplex so they have an identical cost of living. For free majority of national statistics, they're treated as one city. Unless the state has recently redone the Texas-only cost of living analysis, you're not going to find a seperate value for Fort Worth.

The way it breaks down, per the 2015 cost of living analysis, if you're single, Dallas is literally less than 100$ more affordable than Houston. If you have a child, Houston is several thousand dollars more affordable than Dallas.

I think ED TMC had 3 GN spots... has anyone that interviewed for the ED TMC heard back yet??

Just was offered a job at woodlands IMU!!!!!!!!!!

for TMC location? I am still waiting... any updates?
