    Hello everybody!
I'm not neccessary new to the forum but new to the US. I came here with my hubbs last December. We live in Colorado Springs, CO and I just love it here. After studying my butt off to bring my German nursing skills up to compete with you all here I passed the NCLEX and am now a licensed RN. So excited. Was a piece of work but I made it. Now I'm on jobhunt and a little discouraged that it doesn't seem to lead anywhere. But I remind myself everyday to be patient and stay focused.

no kidding. And I don't really like those online applications. In Germany you can send your actual papers or even drop them off personally. It is more of a personal thing than here.
But I guess I will be looking into staffing agencies and seeif that is the solution.
    Thanks

I was thinking to check out staffing agencys. I was just concerned cause I'm coming from a different hospital system in germany so I don't know if I'm really the right one to just put somewhere. Does anybody know if they give you some kind of orientation with those staffing agencys?

That is so nice of you, thank you. Well during my study time I could not find any significant differences anatomy wise when it comes to Americans in comparison to us Germans but who knows, maybe I missed something
My hubbs is already asking around and telling everybody if they know somebody who knows somebody....
It's gonna be ok. I probably just need a little more patience. I don't really care in what departement the job would be, the only place I try to stay away from are senior living facilities.

I moved to Colorado Springs with my husband who is in the Air Force. I was working as a nurse in Germany, where I was born, since 2005. I worked and studied hard to pass the NCLEX and now I am a RN and can not find a job. I keep sending out applications online but nobody seems to hire nurses with an Associates degree and my workexperience from Germany (2 years general medical, 3 years ER) doesn't seem to count.
I am a little frustrated, specially because I left a job I loved in Germany and I hate it not to work.

    Hey everybody.
My name is Denise. I moved to Colorado Springs last December with my hubby who is in the Air Force. I was working in Germany as a nurse since 2005. After I got here I took the NCLEX and now I am a licensed RN here in Colorado. I put out a ton of online applications with the two local hospitals here and some in Denver. 95% of them came back telling me I don't meet the requierements or I don't have enough experience. I was working in the ER the last 3 years in Germany, took a BLS class on my expence after I got here cause I saw most of the applications have this as a requierement. I'm a little demotivated and don't really know what further to do. I want nothing more than to work.
    Any sugestions?

Thank you all for the input. My principal sent the paper with the hours in theory and practical training plus my translated final transcript. They told me though the did not get the transcript but sent me the paperform again to fill out the hours. I phoned them to get an understanding of what's going on and the lady on the phone told me to wait and if I wouldn't here anything from them again in the next 4 weeks to send all the papers again.

I really don't know how to go on right now. They wont accept my transcript cause it doesn't list all the fields. It has just the three parts from the final exam for the writing exam the practical and the speaking part of it. and my school principal filled out the form together with me the second time cause she doesn't speek no English and they keep telling me that it is wrong. Plus it costs me money everytime to have my transcript translated in the same way or send the same stuff again and again. This goes on for more than 5 months now and i"m about to give up. How did Kaplan help you?

    Hello everybody
I am a nurse here in Germany, educated here as well. My husband is in the military and American and we will move to the US by the end of 2010. Of course I do wanna work there so I started the CGFNS CES evaluation course by course report. It's a pain. I sent them all the necessary papers, so did my nursing school and the the german official office which issued my diploma. But CGFNS keeps coming back to me and is telling me that transcripts are missing, that papers are not filled out fully. So I let it do again and they find something else that is not right. So before everything is not as they want it they don't start evaluating of course. By now my motivation went down to "0" and I wonder if ther is maybe a school programm which I could take as a foreign educated nurse to become a RN or at least a LPN.cause I'm willing to go back to school

I am a german nurse and I wanna work in the States. Believe me it doesn't seem to be similar at all. I have to have my education evaluated by CGFNS which is a pain in the bud. We start getting BSN courses but there are barely positions out there. So if you are American and you wanna work in the US you should get your degree in the US.
