I tried to PM you but it won't let me.
Alot of the colleges only look at your last 60 hours, which is mainly nursing. Do good to the GRE, get your one year of ICU expierence and excellent reference letters and you will be fine. I was average in all, but still go in. Do give up.
I used the Kaplan GRE exam book. It came with a CD disk that had a math tutor that started all the way with simple fractions and worked up through every thing.
Just wondering if there are any Allegheny Student on for the upcoming class. Can't wait to meet you.
I would say move to the cath lab. I also worked in ICU for 3 years got burned out and moved to Interventional Radiology. I start anesthesia school in August 07. I have learned so much working in radiology. The Cath lab has great experience. You have served your time. You will get alot of hands on experience with balloon pumps and lots of drips. Good Luck.
I am off the alternate list and offically in at Allegheny Valley August 2007. Thanks to all that has help me with the interviews.
Congrats Calvin That is my first choice school. Send me a PM.
I haven't heard anything back yet.
Someone said letters were going out first of March, I think. Good Luck I hope you get in. I met a few people that where interviewing there during our allegheny valley interview.
I was just wondering what you guys that are on the alternate list stats where. Do you guys automatically get in next year or do you have to reapply. I would take the alternate list then a flat out rejection.
I know someone who graduated from there and said that their interview is strictly personal NO clinical questions.
I can scan you the vistor handout we have predone with all the info in it plus other helpful hints like the cafeteria hours
In our ICU,CVICU our visiting hours as follows for 30min at each interval. 10am 1330, 1700,2000, 2400. They have to pick up a phone and then we buzz them in if there is not an emergency going on. During any code, recieving or discharging a patient we hold visitation untill the situation is clear. We also check with each nurse that is working to make sure that everyone is ready for visitation. Last check on the code browns, need for suctioning and cleanup the room.
Hope this helps
What school did you interview at. I would assume they will send a letter either way. I know when I got my rejection letter from ASU it was 4 weeks after my interview. Not that I didn't know I had blew my interview.
Well, I finally got the offical interview date for Allegheny Valley. Which will be Jan 10th. I am so excited this it the school I really want to attend so hopefully I will do good during my interview. I just wanted to thanks to all that encouraged me. Just being selected to interview anywhere is a great honor. Maybe my next post will be that I got accepted.
