  1. Question on boilerplate text in chart notee

Hello all, I am curious about excessive use of boilerplate text and legal liability. My employer has now modified the EHR to automatically put in a huge amount of boilerplate into every chart note under the Plan/Instructions section. Basically...
  2. We Must Demolish NP Diploma Mills

The solution is to have more GOOD schools and/or to increase spaces at existing GOOD schools, not have a bunch of poor quality schools churning out poor quality grads.
  3. ADN Program worth it?

Don't do it. For an ADN, your best bet is a community college. That would save you a lot of $. Once you have your RN, then you can do a bridge to BSN program, which many employers will pay for.
  4. We Must Demolish NP Diploma Mills

Amen. Recently, I have been feeling ashamed of being an NP because of all the bad NPs now being churned out by diploma mills. I am also dismayed at how many users of this forum openly ask for the fastest and easiest schools for becoming an NP. Giv...
  5. We Must Demolish NP Diploma Mills

Personally, I think the real issue with the for-profit schools is the lack of admissions standards. They will pretty much accept anyone with a pulse. So they get a lot of crap students who then become crap providers. There are also some good s...

  8. We Must Demolish NP Diploma Mills

If they are students, then of course they are not yet ready to be an NP! That is the definition of a student! Your job as a preceptor is to help them get ready. If they knew everything, then they wouldn't need a preceptor!
  9. Questions about withdrawals

Relax. It is fine. I had Ws and got into Johns Hopkins and UCLA! You can address these in your essay - just explain what like you did in your post. Best wishes!
  10. Walden vs Wilkes PMHNP

Both of them are for-profit diploma mills. There are plenty of reputable nonprofit schools out there, so please go to one of those.
  11. Working in the ER will likely expose you to psych emergencies. Also, oncology. Neurology would also expose you to psych issues. If the hospital has orthopedics or similar, working with chronic pain pts will also provide related psych experience as...
  12. Either one is fine. However, if you want to work in primary care, then primary care experience will be more beneficial, as it will be related to what you will be doing. If you think you would like specialize in ambulatory cardiology as an NP, then ...
  13. I want to go to College

CNA is going to give you hands on patient care experience, so I suggest that.
  14. Advice needed!!

For-profit schools are ruining the nursing profession and should be outlawed.
  15. AGAC, AGPC, or FNP?

Just because someone is an RN, does not mean NP is automatically the best next step for them. PA is a better option for some people. It depends on what kind of work the person wants to do. PAs can perform some procedures and surgeries. Even an Em...
