my local community college doesn't have any a&p online classes. i would like to find another school that would offer them.
but at the same time, i want the school to be legit.
i live in florida, so anyone with any advice, please feel free to
    let me know.
    thanks

    Denise,

what site did you use for those online classes??? are the credits transferrable???
I would much rather take the classes at home, or atleast one of them.
Thanks for your help, I will be waiting to hear from you....

i think i may have found the answer to my dilema....has anyone heard of galen health institute in tampa florida??
they have a lpn to rn program...one year...includes all the prereqs i would need like a&p and micro.
just wondering if anyone out there has heard of them...good or bad...they are a private college...tuition is kinda high, but my dad has offered to pay for it.
or maybe you could check out their website and let me know what you think
    thanks

thanks for all the advice. i am still thinking about what i am going to do.
i do have to consider my family....i have three kids...ages 15, 13 and 12....and i don't want to be too busy studying to be a mom....

i want to be an rn so badly, but i don't want to study myself to death....i guess all good things come to those who want it.

these boards have been such a help to me through lpn school, my nclex...and now going towards my rn.....

    i need your help......
i have taken a few semesters off from school because my mom passed away, and then we put our house up for sale and we thought we were going to move to a different state....well this put me behind on my prereq's for the lpn to rn bridge over.
is it possible......or doable to take anatomy and physiology ii and micro in the same semester....and not only in the same semester...but in the summer semester??
i wouldn't be working...and it would only be those two classes.....???????
if i dont' take the two of them together...then that puts me another year away from signing up for the rn bridge program.
any advice would be greatly appreciated...
    thanks

for me, pharmacology was the hardest part of lpn school. learning all the different meds. we had to be able to tell our instructors the med we were giving, why we were giving it, side effects....all that good stuff. so it was a lot of memorization. and there are so many drugs out there.
i find myself today at work, looking up new meds i have never given. it's a continued learning process.
i loved the classroom setting, and the clinical part of it as well. i hated....and dreaded check offs in the lab. even though i knew my skills, the instructors would intimidate me.
i have been out of school for 7 months now and i work at a hospital on a med surg floor, while i am taking my prereq's for the rn bridge over program.....

i started studying for boards about six months into my program. my teachers made us start then, and turn in the results each marking period. but once i was out of school, i probably practiced about 150 questions a day. i took boards in march, so it added up to about three and a half months of 150 questions a day.

i used many many books....but the one that i thought was most like boards was
strategies for passing the nclex-pn 2006-2007 by kaplan.
i also ordered the $79.00 question and answer bank on kaplan.com
they really prepared me for boards. i recommended this book to my friends and to my prior lpn teachers to give to the new incoming class.
i passed boards with 85 questions....know your meds. i had alot of questions that just named meds, and asked what it was used for or what the adverse effects were. good luck

sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone....yes...i passed....!!!!
    yeah!!!
my computer shut off at 85...and the questions weren't like anything i was prepared for...but i passed and i have been working at a local hospital by me. they hired me as a gpn till i passed boards. but i love it! my dream is real......helping people is real.....i love going to work!
i wish everyone good luck while either waiting to take boards, or waiting for your results.
i now start classes on monday to take my prereq's for the rn program. one small step at a time.....
thanks for all the support you sent to me.

    i passed my boards!!!!!
i found out yesterday at work. i was so thrilled, i called everyone i knew, and i did my happy dance all day at work yesterday. all my coworkers were so supportive of me, hugging me and telling me how happy they were for me. it was great.
now my husband is planning a party for me i can't wait!!!
thanks to everyone who sent me good vibes.
i love this website, and all the helpful people there are on here. you all made my wait to take boards, and the wait after to get my results, a little more -----less stressful.
    thanks........

    i am exhausted!!!!!
i really don't know how well i did. i guess many people walk out of there saying the same thing. my computer shut off at 85......i had a lot of prioritizing.....a few meds...no math.....a few cultural....a few of everything i guess.
so i won't know anything till weds morning, and i have to work, so my next post will be weds night, when i get home from work, and let you all know if i passed, or have more studying to do.
i think i am going to go and take a nap......
thanks for all the good wishes and vibes.....

well today is my day. i take boards in just a few short hours. i couldn't sleep anymore, so i thought i would share my nervousness with all of you.
i have had an upset belly all weekend just thinking about today.
i hope i am prepared enough to pass. i work as a graduate practical nurse at a local hospital, and i love my job. just last week, two of my patients gave me flowers and told me i was the best nurse they ever had. i love being a nurse.
i am continuing my education in may with my prereqs for the rn program, i just have to get through today.......please everyone, send me good vibes.....
i will keep you all posted....i should know my results on weds....but i will let you know what was on the test when i get back

    good morning.....
my advice is, try the kaplan nclex-pn strategies for the practical nursing exam 2006-2007. i also ordered the online question bank for $79 dollars. i heard that these were the questions most like the ones on boards.
my one friend took boards and didn't get this book that i recommended and failed, then she bought the book and all she could say was "i wish i would have had that book before i took boards"
it has help in there on what kind of test taker you are, and how to reword questions. it seems really helpful...plus if you don't pass, there is a money back guarantee.
i take my boards this morning at nine.....and i am really nervous.....but i studied from all the books you had mentioned, and my kaplan book....so hopefully i am successful and pass.
good luck...and i will keep everyone posted.
