Hello.
As far as I know, to be eligible for a skilled visa (independent/state/relative/regional) you have to have a positive skills assessment which for RNs is done by ANMAC. Skills assessment has two versions, full and modified. Modified assessment is for Australian and/or New Zealand registered nurses (pathway for Pinoy RNs who have done BP). Full assessment is for non Australian and/or NZ RNs. Since we are not yet AHPRA RNs we cannot lodge app for modified assessment. Now, can we apply for full assessment? I cannot. But if you have practised and registered as RN in countries such as Canada, UK, USA and Ireland for 3 months then you can.
This makes AHPRA and ANMAC different now because ANMAC considers working experience although limited to those 4 countries only. ANMAC will also consider work experience even in the PH if you want to gain extra points for the skilled visa.
According to ANMAC annual report for July 2013-June 2014, 3% of full assessment applications are initially registered in the PH and 7% of modified assessment apps are initially registered in the PH. Maybe they are those that gained and practised in the said countries above. Moreover, from January 2014 to June 2014, applications dramatically dropped perhaps because of the AHPRA delays and backlogs.
