Hi! Im a newbie here. I'd like to ask about the new requirement in ahpra app. Last week, i got to talk with my case officer and ask him for updates with my application. He told me that my application is still in the assessment stage and he can't give a time frame as to when the outcome of the assessment will be given. I ask him if i still do have any lacking dox to submit then he answered me that all my dox are in. He also added that ahpra has a new req for intn'l qualified rns and that you may or may not be asked of the new req. But at the back of my mind, it is really required. Btw, i submitted my ahpra dox in Perth office last jan. 20 and my case officer asked for my lacking dox on jan. 23. I submitted my lacking doc jan 30. I keep contacting my CO reg updates and always replied that my app is still under the assessment stage. I know there's a new req which is the school accreditation to offer nursing course at the time of my study but my CO is still not asking for it. Quite worried because i am aiming to enrol april intake for the bp. Also, i emailed my CO for an early outcome of the application and that im hoping to enrol on april 2014 intake.
Does anyone knows the format for the new req? Pls shed light. Thank you.

too much email enquiries would not expedite your application. just be patient. I waited 7 months for my RN registration.
I know everyone would want to be exempted from the bridging program because it is just expensive. However, realistically speaking, it may not be the case for most overseas nurses even with the change in assessment criteria. The requirement is no different than AHPRA evaluating the scholastic records (TOR, etc) of the applicant and still requiring the applicants to undergo bridging program. The new requirement is just to ensure that the nursing program is accredited and is not a measure of Australian equivalence.
I think some schools were writing up letters and curriculums to suit the Australian assessments, ie: requirements for aged care unit, requirements for pharmacy etc. as one poster here mentioned "my school knows what to write up for the requirements, they have written it up before for AHPRA" does not show much transperancy and honesty of a nursing school.
If an Australian course and school has to be accredited originally and then periodically so be it overseas applicants schools must be the same. I concur with Iamnomad and bridging schools were required before when any degree from any school was accepted, I do not see that changing, as Australian culture and health care meds etc. need to be taught.

I have seen it as well, we could be assessed as under AQF 7 or AQF 6. Best of luck to all! :)
