Are the q's in the review books sufficient for review for the med piece? I know they are going to throw med's I've never even heard of, but get lost when I come up with a med I'm not familiar with. I don't think it's quite right outside of the standard med's. I would never give a med I didn't know all about, that's why I carry a medication book!
I'm so exhausted. I haven't slept, so it's hard to think right now. Any imput is appreciated.

This works for some med questions: If the med if something that you never heard of and the side effects or teaching whatever are similar, pick the one that isn't like the others. For example, Your pt is on fliporflop (made up drug:)). You know they understood teaching when they say,
a)fliporflop will make me nauseated (GI)
b)this drug may leave a metallic taste in my mouth (GI)
c)this drug may make me feel anxious (NOT GI)
d) this drug may cause diarrhea (GI)
It works in a pinch!!
Also, look at the system the drug works in if you do know the drug and puick a side effect from that system.
Hope that helps!!

Ditto. I had one on boards and all but one were anticholinergic effects. I picked the one that wasn't. Not sure if it was right..but I did pass boards.

Hi,
I took NCLEX in June and pharm was my weakest point becuase it is imppossible to remember every drug that they give you, you just can't do it, that is why they make drug books. Anywho I did a few pharm practice qudestions and none of the drugs showed up on NCLEX, and honestly you dont need to really know the drug in most question. You can pick out the correct answer just by know which one is going to be the worst for the patient for instance...
Joan is on xxxx medication 3x a day which assessment finding would be the highest priority?
1) nausea
2) headache releived with APAP
3) orange colored urine
4) Urine output
