Things should never be memorized for this exam, you need to understand the information. When you memorize, you forget it soon after and that is not what this exam is looking.
The meds that you had in your program you are responsible for knowing inside out and backwards. There is no way that you are going to know each and every med that is out there in the world and any of these can be on your exam.
Preparation with meds should not be any different than what you covered in school. It is nothing to get stressed over.
Best of luck on your exam.

majority of my exam last week were all about meds.. some of the meds were like aliens to me, but i did focus on the suffix, prefix... like 'mycins' ,'statins', 'pril'.. that was my strategy..i was able to do that after knowing the content of the meds of each system.. and also know the drug of choice of COMMON dse.. like RSV-ribavirin.. i think that's a good start..

Exactly. You should be able to identify the class based on the suffix and know the " general " side effects associated with that class. For example: -lol is a beta blocker ( propranolol ) one side effect would be hypotension. Like Suzanne said though, don't have to memorize. Just know your suffixes and the material you learned in nursing school pharmacology.

Mosby's pharm memory aid flash cards are really great and don't forget the drugs advertised on tv. Good luck!
