okay, people! who is with me on this one? i am feeling a little nervous about all those slides! i'm looking forward to meeting everyone in this course!
i will gather up any useful sites i find in the last med micro club and elsewhere and put them in this post!
here's a start ..
some sites from fall 05 club:

Good luck to you! I got a 100% on my microscope test (identify parts, why we use oil, the condenser, etc), and find a slide at 1000x within a time limit. I was so worried about it! I also got an 87% of the Lab test, but it maybe bumped to an A because there were 3 questions on the test worded very badly and most people missed them, so the teacher may throw out theose questions, which will give me a 91%, so I really hope she does this!
I hope that those questions get thrown out! Congrats on your terrific grades! Wow you had a separate microscope test, I would have freaked
Well, my first lab practical is tomorrow morning at 8:10am. I am freakin' nervous because she wants tons and tons of detail--if she asks function of something, say, ocular lens--you cannot just say "magnifies the specimen which was sent through the body tube." You have to say EVERY THING YOU POSSIBLY KNOW about the ocular lens. OOK. The microscope is what scares me the most because we never went over the parts and functions really in class, we just kind of started doing everything. It's going to be 25 stations, 2 at each station (2 minutes) and then we will have an extra sheet that we need to answer questions on while answering questions at stations
. Everyone says that lab is generally one grade higher, but this woman is nuts I think.
Wish me luck. I don't even know how to study for this really because I have NO IDEA what she will ask. We did a power point review the other day in class, but then I went online this weekend and she added extra slides of "possible questions," which we have never gone over before, never had a lab on, never even heard of, so I hope that was a mistake!
OK.... where do they breed these micro professors? Cause someone needs to close down the puppy mill :roll
It is a hard class, and we start the Unknown project tomorrow....wish me luck with them bugs
Good luck on the unknown! In my class it has been a case of "We unknown what the heck we are supposed to be doing" We were told to innoculate 4 mediums the first day and since then it has been a "figure it out your darn self" kind of thing. I know what we have and I didn't have to do all the tests available to figure it out, but if you ask her a question about if you have to do X test or not she gets SOOOOO mad and goes off.
I cannot wait for this semester to end end end. Crazy micro professor and our A&P lab prof was injured in a car crash and won't be back this semester, so for now 4 different instructors including my micro instructor are taking over her class. Can I cry now?

OMG....you poor thing, I am crying with you
Do you all do internet case studies? Where you are given a patient with X symptoms and have to figure out diagnosis, tests to run, drugs to give, etc.. etc..etc?
Well, our teacher did internet case studies last year and felt that too many people cheated.....so this year we will have the PLEASURE to do it in class. It will count as one lecture test grade
Sounds like a similar thing to yours, we will be given symptoms etc. However, we are able to use our notes, the book and whatever reference we like. She is throwing us a bone here and there while lecturing what might come up.

Ours was bread down South at the Texas Coast, she shared how she needed to count and separate male from female mosquito larvae.....she specialized in microbes that live in soil.
She is only 32 years old and has a Phd and I think it is her second semester teaching at our school.
