Med-Surg Studying Help??

Published

Hi everybody!

I'm a 4th semester nursing student and my program has recently started using ATI. This semester one of our ATI exams revolves around med-surg. This is my area of interest so staying motivated isn't really my concern, but the sheer amount of information is overwhelming! The textbook given to us to help with the ATI exams is 96 chapters, just for med-surg! I know it's all important, but does anyone have any advice for how to condense down the information or study it all in a way that won't take me ages? Like I said, I love learning about this stuff but realistically I feel like there's no way to remember every single thing I might be tested on.

Thanks! :)

Bumping because I'm interested to see the responses.

We used ATI in my nursing program. Our med-surg book was huge too! What I would suggest is using ATI online. Go on there, take the practice tests, go through the lessons. That's what I did. I barely even used the books for any of the areas and I did just fine on all my ATI exams.

What lessons?

Go to ATI Testing | Nursing Education | NCLEX Exam Review | TEAS Testing log in. Click on My ATI. From there you can select the area you want, tutorials or lessons, etc.

The My ATI looks something like this:

You click on "Modules" for whatever one you want. Say you want Skills Management - Click on that, select which one you want, for example - Blood Administration - You can click on "Begin Test" under "Pretest" to take a pretest to see how well you know the information before the lesson. You can click on "Begin Lesson" to start the lesson. You can click on "Begin Test" to take the post-test after doing the lesson.

Example (this is the one for blood administration):

The lesson would look something like this (this is the one for blood administration):

Some don't have lessons, they just have practice quizzes or tests. But even just the ones with the quizzes or tests are really helpful!!

I think this will make things a lot easier, thank you!! :)

I just checked it out and it looks like we don't have access that to that stuff, which sucks because that would be super helpful. :/

Weird. If they give you the books you should have access to it? Did you try to create an account?

In hindsight I do remember my instructors saying that we had "limited access" to features on ATI. :/

Limited access still implies some access! LoL...I would think that would mean you have access to something on there and could create an account.

How ridiculous that the school would supply you with ATI books but not allow you to have access to the ATI website!!
