Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

I wonder if those 140 people have 100% committed to Columbia though. I know there was a few people who forgot to pay their deposit based on information I was told. So hopefully there’s enough room for us all ?

I was wondering if everyone did the addendum and/or optional essay? My grades definitely fluctuated all throughout my undergrad but majority of it were C’s. Im not sure if addressing numerous C’s was the best thing to do since it wasn’t one time. So I didn’t do the addendum.
I would just like some feedback if anyone did those components! I feel like maybe doing those would have made a difference to my application ?
I did both the addendum and optional essay. There was a few factors I wanted to address that occurred during my undergrad that caused low/failing grades. I felt that explaining what happened, would make a difference in my application so they aren’t left wondering, since I did go through some bad experiences. If you feel that your C’s are something that would impact your application negatively, then you could’ve used the addendum. For the optional essay, I wrote about something I did as a hobby that I wanted to incorporate into the specialty I applied for. It wasn’t supposed to be anything academic since that is what the addendum is for.

I’m pretty sure it’ll be hybrid based on what I’ve read. I think our labs and clinicians would be in person and our lectures online? I’m currently waiting to hear back and honestly starting to worry if I should just commit to the other school I got accepted to. It’ll be near impossible to find housing or anything in NYC if I even were to get in ?

Mmmm gotcha thanks! Im wondering if we still have to go in person every day or if its like 2-3 times a week for labs and clinicals. I wish we had more answers.
And it's definitely difficult for sure. Im thinking of commuting from NJ tbh cuz NY is so pricey.

OMG awesome! Im from NJ too just not in a commuter town. I do have a car but I'm looking for places close to the train too. So either or works for me tbh.

I think it’ll be maybe a few times a week! I’m from CA so I’d have to start looking at apartments ASAP. In that sense, I feel like the admissions office isn’t thinking how stressful this is on us sigh. But what else can we do but wait ?
For those moving to New York I wouldn't stress too much about apartments yet, you definitely have plenty of time. Most apartments are available to rent immediately or in the very near future. In all my past NY apartments I moved into the apt within a month of finding it, and my friends have had the same experience. So you have until like mid-April/early May to start looking!
I wouldn’t stress too hard about finding a place in nyc at the moment. Unless you’re trying to move well before the program starts...you can’t commit to an apartment more than 1 month in advance of when you want to move anyway. Program starts June 7, I’m not going to look to find a place to live until may 1. I have poked around just to check out the housing market right now and it’s literally the easiest and cheapest to find an apartment than it’s ever been in nyc due to COVID and so many people leaving the city. I’m a native new yorker but have lived out west for my post-grad life and I’m just hoping these rental rates last a few more months LOL!

I emailed administration yesterday and got a response today that the decisions will be made sometime in February because they are still reviewing applicants. So I’m just patiently waiting. At first I was very paranoid and anxious and I realized that isn’t good for my health LOL. So when it comes , it will. I’m just happy and fortunate that I didn’t get a rejection in the first round , so it gives me hope for the 2nd round. ??
