If you are being serious then yes you could email admissions and tell them you would like to withdraw your application.

Yes Im being totally serious because I can’t do this anymore. I am going to email them now ! Hopefully that will leave a spot open for someone and one less application to review if they haven’t already.

You can also log on to your application and click "withdraw" as well. Give it some thought before you do though. Emotions are high right now, which is completely understandable.

I believe the issue comes in when it comes down to communication and keeping applicants abreast. If just last week people were being told that a decision would be released this week, then this week we are being told that it will now be most likely the end of the month that is problematic. There should be a solid set response of application and decision status by way of mass email. We should t have to call to know that things changed. As a native New Yorker who no longer resides in New York, I understand how difficult it is to get an apartment in NYC at the last minute, which is something they should consider, in order for people to commit when we do get answers there are several things that go into making that decision. I am certain alot of schools of schools have a lot more applications this year, however others schools I have applied to have been way more transparent throughout the entire process and that makes all the difference.
Hi All, I already got accepted to the program from the 1st round but I understand people’s frustration over the waiting time (Cause I am also waiting to hear from another school still). Honestly, most of us who got accepted are also still waiting to hear from other schools until March at the latest. Columbia also has not reached out to us ever since the last infosession. Please be patient everyone!
at this point, I’m happy to pretend I didn’t submit an application and then be pleasantly surprised when we get notified in like may HAHA
I used to work for admissions as well but for a different, larger school and I can confirm that there isn’t much that people answering the phones can really do. let’s hope that the person that answered that was rude was just having an awful day!
and honestly I’m sure it’s really overwhelming for all of us because of the pandemic and by “us” I mean the admissions staff as well. I hope they’re just SAYING we’ll hear back by end of feb and we’ll be pleasantly surprised with decisions by this week.
regardless, I don’t want to invalidate any of your feelings and I am really with you guys on that feeling of being second best/the anxiety. sending much love!
I feel sorry for the CUSON admissions staff. I also feel bad for the applicants in admissions limbo. So much of this anxiety could be relieved by a straightforward email from CUSON regarding their admissions timeline. It is perplexing that they can't see that, and instead snap at folks who call, trying to get an update on admissions releases.
Apparently lots of us will have to give deposits to other programs before we hear back from CUSON, which puts us in a financially and ethically difficult position....but it seems unavoidable given the way admissions decisions are uncoordinated.

This question is for current MDE students. I applied for the MDE program but would like to continue on to receive a DNP after getting my masters. The CUSON website says that there is a seamless transition from the MDE to the DNP program. Is this "seamless transition" just for students who applied for the MDE/DNP program. If so, what would the process be for applying for a DNP while in the MDE program. Thank you in advance for your advice.
Current mde/DNP here! I’m sure this question has been answered already but if you’re not accepted into the DNP at the time of MDE admission there are opportunities to apply from within throughout the MDE year. You just have to be in good standing and there needs to be room in that cohort. You’d still be considered a seamless transition if you get in from the internal application. Hope this helps!

My husband graduated from Columbia 1 year ago and he is very happy with the education level, the labs and simulations and preceptors following up on small groups. He mentioned that clinicals are also good and you really get to be hands on. He finished and got a job right of the bat with NYP as a PMHNP

Thank you. I don’t think I can wait until the end of the month when decisions are typically posted early February. They gave us false hope with these rounds because it does not allow us more time to commit to a school when we are waiting on them specifically. Anytime I reached out to them regarding decisions they told me early to mid February then told me we’ll get them by this Wednesday. Now all of a sudden we have to wait until the end of the month. I feel for them, I really do. I know they are stressed right now. But I think sending an email to us again like they did right before first rounds were out, would’ve made things less intense.

If it’s by the end of the month, that’s 13 days - I guess 12 if you don’t count today. I talked to a really kind staff member, doesn’t look like others had the same experience. As someone who worked in the exact position as the people we’ve been calling and speaking to, I can say that there’s not much they specifically can say or do (albeit they shouldn't be rude) and that the power lies with the department reviewers themselves. Those reviewers, who are usually faculty members and department heads, should have organized an announcement/email with Admissions.
This doesn’t change my perception of Columbia or the actual program itself. I still hold it in high regard.
