From speaking to multiple applicants in the first round it seems like the people admitted in that round were not based on when their application was submitted.

There were multiple applicants who submitted their application on October 14th and 15th. Most applicants who were admitted had GPA's above a 3.6 ( some had 3.5's, but most had very competitive GPA's)

I do not think CU has been transparent with us at all. I have emailed them multiple times what determined who was in what round and have yet to get a response.

Maybe I am wrong, but my assumption (based on talking to accepted students) is that they took people with HIGH GPA's

How are they calculating GPA’s? I am someone who did poorly in undergrad and then redid my undergrad at a different college and got a 3.9 GPA there and completed all prerequisites there. Before applying to CUSON, I had spoken with admissions and asked them how they calculated GPA and they said they will consider from the college where my BS degree was conferred which happened to be the college where I have the high GPA (I dropped out of the other college without getting a degree). Now, reading your post, I am uncertain whether that is the case at all since I didn’t hear back during round one....but I wasn’t rejected either....

I could be wrong, but this is what I noticed after talking to a decent amount of admitted students!

There could’ve been a lot of factors when it came to acceptances in the first rounds. But at the same time it could’ve been strictly random. Because CU does not have a GPA requirement and they look at applications holistically. So they consider everything on our application when making decisions. I know we’re all overthinking our applications and how CU makes their decisions, especially for second rounds. But it honestly could be completely random ??‍♀️

Thanks for this information pedsNPtobe. If you are correct that first round applicants were chosen primarily based on their high GPAs, then my concern that CUSON implemented an "early decision" admissions policy this year is justified. I applied in September and have now been waiting five months for a decision. If this had been a transparent early decision admissions process, at least the people who applied early would have been given decisions in round one. I want to remain hopeful about an acceptance because I wasn't rejected then, but since we know nothing about how many students applied to the program, were accepted, waitlisted or rejected in that first round, we are all in the dark, and are likely to remain so, even after CUSON's final round of decisions are released.

That said, I am grateful for the universities that offer the opportunity for those who already have BAs to pursue advanced nursing degrees. There aren't many of them, so the competition to get in is predictably fierce. Especially this year.

Stay well. Stay positive.

Agree with you. I’ve been waiting since September. It has been difficult to wait so long for a decision when I have other options as well. This my top choice, so I am still waiting. However, a little transparency and honesty would be great.

Did anyone who has been accepted in the first round decline their offer and decided to go some where else ?

whew it really is so frustrating to wait! at this point I feel like we’re never gonna hear back even though that’s also unrealistic LMAO

still trying to hold out hope that the second round isn’t the alternate wait list and they’re still reviewing holistically tho ?

I emailed administration on Friday and they emailed me back today surprisingly! I didn’t think they would respond to emails on weekends? Anyway, they said to look out for an email tomorrow or by Wednesday for decisions!

I hope we hear back today!

I’m going to assume tomorrow or Wednesday since it’s already 4:30pm EST. But really, who even knows at this point. ??‍♀️

To the person who said they received the email - who was the person from admissions who told you by Wednesday?

Since we are not allowed to write out actual names on here due to identifiers. I could only say it begins with a W.

Plus its a holiday today so I wasn't expecting decisions to be released. I feel like tomorrow could be the day or possibly Wednesday
