MDC Nursing Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

To anyone out there....

I had planned to apply for Fall 2018 but I will be finishing my pre reqs on May 1,2018. The exact deadline to apply for Fall. Is anyone in a similar situation? Do you think I should apply anyways?

Anyone else not have their background or drug screening approved yet?

Not me but I know a lot of students still in this situation.

Have you had your orientation yet?

Does the orientation really last until 9?

nope no approval, I am full time Generic. Only pending for those two items. According to the Complio clerk they are behind she said she had 500 request to check.

Did anyone attend yesterdays orientation for Medical campus Generic Full time? Curious to know the schedules you were offered.

Hey, guys, I am still a little confused on the background checks. I completed my level 2 background check and my complio is compliant. But yesterday during orientation they mentioned to complete the ACHA background check. I keep hearing mixed messages: ACHA has to be at the same place I completed my level 2(fingerprint technologies) and it is seperate. I called ACHA themselves to make sure I can complete their background check at any finger print technologies and they said no and asked me for my ssn. They were able to look up all my information and said i was good until X date and that i dont have to pay extra for another finger print that it is up to the agency where i complete my clinicals to do a revision and look up my information just like they were able to look up my information. I am so confused! lol any way i have contacted the complio lady but she has not answered yet.

Please help if you know anything! thanks!

We were told at our orientation today that a couple hundred students are still pending the drug screening and the background, they asked us to be patient since I believe there is only one person approving them.

I believe that's for medical campus students. I'm homestead campus. But my understand is that it has to be done if you're doing Jackson clinicals sometime in January. I would just wait until they provide you more details. Best of luck1

Hey guys just stopping by to congratulate all of you who made the cut into this excellent program at MDC. I am half way done into the first semester at Homestead...and I want to pass the knowledge and advice once I got from more advanced students. We have almost all the PDFs for the books you will need. Now, if you like hard copies...just get Fundies and Math the most, you will need no books for skills at all, I had never opened mine because all the info for that class is already on the Fundies book....but this is for the homestead. Medical is a different story, I won't get in details about Medical but if you are going to Homestead consider yourself blessed. If you are on a budget like most of US, don't buy the black bag yet ( we are just about to use only the staff for wounds ). For those going to AO ...my most sincere respect! Nursing is hard in full time, so AO is harder ( half the class did not pass) so study, study, study...say bye to partying, friends, significant others because you won't have time for anything but school. Your classmates will be your family; we help each other, we cry together, we do cool stuff together, and we all make sure we all do good, but there are still some failing ( check your critical thinking skills at testing). Don't be mean to each other, share!!. Share your notes, info, share anything that might help to learn and pass. No one cares about GPAs no more. All it matter is that you have to make sure you are passing. Some of us have excellent grades; some others have not so good grades, but as long you get a 77 you are OK ( always aim and prepare for an A). A's are super hard to get since 95 n up is an A, but they are doable if you invest time and effort and your CT skills are strong (questions are case scenarios, and that is where a lot are failing). If you have more questions, ask me on IG. I will do my best to help you guys if you want me to, we all are busy at school so bear with me if I don't respond right away. Once again congrats and good luck....ah! Registration day...arrive early if you want the best clinicals and schedules. That day look around you and learn the faces you see because those are the faces you want to see on your graduation day... we all are in this together!

WOW!...a lot of great information. Thanks for taking the time to come in and share! I am currently taking my math requirement at Homestead and my A&P 2/Lab at Kendall. I hope to apply for the fall class for AO and Full-time (I'll be assigned to Homestead, since I live in SW Kendall). My final requirements are Microbiology/Lab. I'll be taking (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) classes next semester. I already acquired the loose leaf lecture book at a great price but the lab book is very hard to find, since many people write in it. I happen to be one of those who likes to make copies to turn in. LOL. Good luck!

Congratulations to everyone that was accepted for spring 2019! I am going to be at Medical campus.

I attended the orientation on Tuesday and I remember them saying we have I until 4:30 pm on November 14 to be compliant on Complio or else we would be automatically dropped. That's right around the corner on Wednesday so please everyone try to get everything done and uploaded ASAP. I still have almost everything but the CPR and the online forms pending review.

Does anyone remember what it was that takes forever to receive from the bookstore? Is it the name tag?

Yes, the name tag takes about a month from the time they order it.

The name tag and the Clinical bag both need to be preordered. I believe it can take 30 days
