Hi,
I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.
GOT MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER! 3.2 Science GPA and 92% HESI for anyone interested. See ya at Medical campus! Can't wait to meet ya guys!!
Congrats! Did you get the email today or yesterday? :)
For those that for accepted, what's the next step? I see some of you discussing CPR classes and someone else mentioned a deposit??
When it comes to working, the most difficult part isn't just splitting time for work and studying, it's scheduling your hours to work. You're at the mercy of the school because everything changes last second.
Also, do not forget to make time for yourself or you're going to burn out.
AO as well
Congrats to those who got into AO!I am in the last haul of AO. I'm here for you guys if you have any questions.
I was accepted to both options, is it truely that bad the first semester and if you had a choice after experienceing the AO option would you have changed to the generic full time since it only one semester more thant the AO from what i hear. I will need to work, were you able to work at all during the AO option and do you feel NCLEX ready after that accelerated program???
Yes. AO is intense. But it's definitely doable.
When it comes to working, it really depends on you and what you can handle. I have classmates who have been working during the program and have managed to balance it out. On the other hand, there have also been previous classmates who were working during, but they are no longer in AO.
As far as being in accelerated, I don't see myself doing generic. The upside is that things are still in your head and you're able to recall. Specialty courses are the same duration in all the programs (1 month) so those don't matter as much.
Regarding NCLEX preparation, HESI tests are indications of how well you will do on NCLEX so we have to pass the HESI Exit in order to graduate. My group will take it next month around Thanksgiving. I heard that everyone from last fall AO passed NCLEx already.
Hope this helps.
That's my biggest concern as well if I'll be able to work at least on the weekends. I heard the first semester is the toughest. Is this true? What's the schedule/hours like more or less in the first semester as compared to the rest of the program?
I'm already freaking out and thinking maybe the Generic would be a better option.
and thank you!! :) @nurselyfe2016
