MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

Cristimarieee: Your awesome! It really helps to know this.

Thank you =)

What were your classes like? Like how often were you in class? How difficult was it? How expensive was it? Did it feel rushed?

First semester is not that bad. People struggle the most with Fundamentals. But most people end up passing the class. The grade you get in the class is gonna depend largely on how much time you put into th subject and unfortunately what teacher you get. I have noticed that there is a big difference in test questions depending on what teacher you get. Some professors just don't guide you when it comes time to study and that means that you will have to spend hours and hours reading the book

Is everyone's orientation on the 13th?

Specializes in MICU.

It depends how much you put into it. Like they said previously, some professors make your life easier and others don't. You may not have a choice when choosing so it's up to you to pass. People complain about professors but if you read and use resources provided you should be ok. Use evolve. It has a lot of practice questions. Please please use it after studying to test yourself. Especially for HESI. It's not expensive at all in comparison to other schools. I really like this school. The only classes I feel rushed in is specialty. You have a month to learn everything about each subject. One month for psych, one month for peds, and one for OB.

Hello all!

My orientation is on July 24th for the Homestead campus. I already did my background check but where in MDC Kendall do I pick up the results? I'm panicking because I still need my CPR/BLS class and this Friday I'm doing the whole titers/physical etc.. with MDC for 375 (ouch!). Am I going to be screwed? I need some help here.

Also, when is the first day of class for Fall semester?

Thanks!

Hey! I'm also going to be attending the homestead campus. After about five days of completing your background screening, they send you an email stating that your results are ready to be picked up at the deans office at medical campus. The only thing I have left to do is the titers/physical/drug screening and I think I'll be doing that tomorrow (Tuesday) because you have to return in seven days for the second TB. Have you signed up for your cpr class yet?

Hi,

I was told by the nursing department at mdc medical campus that if you have everything lined up, just post it to complio and apply for an exception. The woman explained to me that you just won't be able to register for classes untIL complio shows 100% compliance. I am in the accelerated program so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'm not exactly sure of the start date of classes but if we begin the same time as general classes, it's at the end of august. Honestly, I paid a lot for the requirements on my own. It probably would've been less stressful to go through mdc. My orientation is on Thursday.

Yea I went to a Primary Care physician and they looked at me all strange when I asked them I needed all these requirements done. Told me it would take 7-14 days for results, and out of pocket expense of 200+ dollars not including the physical nor the Quantiferon. I just walked out and said screw it I'd rather pay the 375 and get it all done in one pop. Insurances suck.

I have not even signed up for the CPR class, where and how much? Do I need to pay the minute I sign up or when I Actually take care the course. I'm so broke after all this it's not even funny ;(

It is crazy how expensive it is, but we have to see it as an investment to our future. Considering the prices of other programs this one is a lot more affordable. In regards to the CPR class, whether at MDC or somewhere else, you have to pay ahead of time. I did mine at Nursing Unlimited and it was cheaper than the one at MDC. You can also check out One Beat CPR, they are also affordable.

My orientation day is also the 13th, but each option has a different orientation day.

AMA (American Medical academy) will offer the cpr for $80 if you don't have certification yet. You will complete the "lecture" portion online and then go to their office to do the practical which only takes like 30-45 minutes.
