MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

StartingFresh: Will that satisfy MDC's CPR/BLS requirement? If so that seems so much better than spending a whole day in the class. I've already done this in the US ARMY but I can't find that damn card... this was over 5 years ago though so a refresher is always nice.

My orientation day is also the 13th, but each option has a different orientation day.

Aren't you excited?! I'm about to go crazy over here lol

I still don't know lol... I'm afraid and somewhat excited as well. Going into Nursing school at 32 yrs old with a current full time job and losing my benefits with that company is scary! I'm married as well so it's tough...thank god for Post 9-11 GI BIll and my company offering a part time of which I have to see if I can do it or not still..

It's a huge leap.. not sure if anyone else has done this before

Mine is marked a's compliant in complio. AMA is a vendor of AHA so it'll work. Yeah, I had one too but it expired, so they charged me $80. I think you have to renew it every 3 years. But if you've had it before not much has changed. A few numbers but it's pretty straight forward. I called them on a Monday and went in on a Wednesday because they changed their schedule that week. The only thing is that they only offer the practical portion on Mondays. But for me, I'm still working right now, and the 45 minutes was better than the 3 hours nursing unlimited offered.

I have a whole mixture emotions going on LoL I don't think I'll fully believe it till day 1 of nursing school! í ½í¸†

We're in a similar boat. I'm not married but I have a small child, and am going to be losing some benefits, but hopefully will be able to get some support from family and rely on savings, being that the accelerated program is only a year.

Are you planning on doing a part time job? damn!

Luckily, I have quite a bit saved up so when that starts to run low I'll probably get a part time, especially during the semester when we only take 7 credits.

Can't wait to hear from our friends who had orientation today!! :)

For those already in the program, Which sequence has the better schedule, sequence 1 or sequence 2?
