MDC Miami Dade College Nursing Fall 2021

It's never too early to start the discussion....

Anyone else preparing to apply to the Nursing program at MDC by May 1, for a Fall 2021 start date? Which tracks? TEAS test plans?

Perfect. Thank you. I’m trying to find acceptance rates and average grades/scores for the nursing program and can’t. I can for FIU, but not MDC.

What are we saying is an acceptable score? I got an 85%. Hoping to improve.

Also does anyone know how long it takes for the scores to show up on the application? I know I just had mine, but it’s not there yet. I’ll be cutting it a little close for a retake since I have to wait 30 days. But I think it’s doable.

You don't need a retake with an 85%, that's very high and above average as long as your GPA and science GPA are high.

I think I read that it takes 24 hours for the MDC system to update and show your scores there.

There have never been stats about which numbers get into the nursing program at MDC.

Wait a minute we all most have Adobe 80% ???? They just show add that info instead of telling you with a 60% you are fine #falseadvertising

You need 60% to apply-- not to get in. I wouldn't feel too confident with a 60% score, though.

Last question! Does anyone have any idea what exactly cumulative GPA means in my scenario? I have a previous degree in another field and don’t know how much of that is included? It’s 130 credits, plus the prereqs I’ve just completed.

It means whatever your entire GPA is at that point, not just the prerequisite courses. So those 130 hours on your transcript will also count from what I understand. If you look on your my academics page, it should show your current overall GPA. That's the number they will use.

No, we don't have to score 80% and above, the passing score is 60%, but since the program is so competitive the more the better. In the past, usually those scoring 80 and above, and even 70s have gotten in!

I  got 68.7% I have to re take it  hope can get at least 80%

I’m sure you will.

Guys, how did you prepare yourselves for the exam? what books did you use for studying? I have the ATI TEAS Secrets (the yellow book), but I'm not sure if that's good enough to study from or I should get some other book??

I just purchase the %90 package on the TEAS website I think is very complete

Hey guys!

I just retook my exam and scored a 93% on the science, 90% on the math, an 80% on reading and a 75% on the grammar with an overall score of 84%. I found the exam was a lot harder than my first attempt but, I did study a lot more this attempt. I will be applying to the generic full time program when the scores are posted, hopefully these scores are acceptable. Also, I just spoke to an advisor and he said they look at the overall score and the science score.

There is so much inconsistency from them! I haven't heard from anyone yet about them focusing on science scores, they only care about the overall score from everything else I've heard. Other schools do care about the science score, though. Maybe the advisor meant the science GPA?

I think she meant Science GPA?? I also spoke to a counselor today and she confirmed is the overall TEAS score they look at, plus the Cumulative and Science GPAs
