It's never too early to start the discussion....

Anyone else preparing to apply to the Nursing program at MDC by May 1, for a Fall 2021 start date? Which tracks? TEAS test plans?

That's the right link. You can see HSC003/0003L listed right below Microbiology. The HSC2400 class is to get your CPR card which we need for nursing school. You can choose to take the course somewhere else, it does not have to be with MDC. It's a matter of preference. But just make sure the card says American Heart Association.

?? I now see it written, not in list form! OMG don't mind me, I am close to losing it. ? Taking care of four sick covid patients in my house has taken it's toll on me. Thanks!!

Hi all! I'm planning on applying to the generic full time option at MDC. I want to take my TEAS mid February since I'm only going to be taking HSC0003/lab. Does anyone know how soon can we schedule our exam? Their testing website seems to be a little outdated so I cannot find much information.

Hello, through some series of links I found this message in regards to scheduling:

Please contact us directly at [email protected]

Also remember in that list outside of the table is CGS1060C, either by testing out or actually taking the class. It doesn't have to be done by the time of applying, but is suggested to be.

I emailed them directly (it's on that testing site page) and they said they will be resuming test appointments the week of the 11th of January, and to email them a week before. They are not currently scheduling for the new year.

Awesome! I will email them in January to schedule my test. Thank you both so much!

Hi Guys! I’m hoping to get accepted into to the fall 2021 semester as well! Does anyone know when we can start applying? Because it seems to not be open yet.

Probably sometime shortly after Spring semester starts.

Does anyone know what actually goes into the GPA? I read in another set of posts for a prior class that HSC0003 does NOT--- does the CGS class?

I'm not exactly sure, but for the Associate of Arts degree at MDC we have to take CGS or pass a test to meet the computer competency requirement. I believe since this course is a requirement for the AA, it will be counted as well as English, history, humanities, etc. HSC0003 is not a requirement to obtain a degree so I think that's why it doesn't count. But you can always email an advisor if you're still not sure.

just a question, but why would you be going for an AA? The nursing degree is different and has different requirements, and if you want to go into the BSN you need those requirements rather than any other program, from what I understand.

If I’m not mistaken, the AA covers all the pre-reqs needed for a BSN so after the first nursing program you can go straight to your BSN without having to do other classes in between.

That could be accurate, however I see that specific courses like human nutrition, intro to psych, intro to sociology are required as pre-reqs for the BSN and chm1033(and lab) are also specifically required (even for ASN). I am not sure which AA path you are doing, but I just browsed a few and it seems like they give you a general list of classes to take for humanities and behavior/social science. If you compared the two and made sure you took all the correct courses, you probably could get that all done. If that makes sense..
