I like the first one - I'm going to give it a try too :) Good job researching!
on eagles wings,
you said, "have you taken a look at nursing central by unbound medicine? its sooo awesome its an app suite with davis' drug guide, diagnostic test, taber's dictionary, and some diseases book. its like 150 bucks but worth it :)"
does "nursing central by unbound medicine" only work with ipod touch?
is "nursing central by unbound medicine" a software?
is there a weblink where i can read about it? (hmmm? rhetorical question)
someone said that "the ipod touch" looks just like the iphone (but doesn't have the phone).
i agree... if it looks so similar... whomever is in charge won't likely know the difference and thus, complain we aren't following "guidelines" of not being allowed a phone during clinicals.
but sheesh, i'd sure like all those items in one handy electronic portable device instead of 15lbs of books.

still not organized nor have purchased anything on my "gotta have" list.
and i tend to be an organized person.

On Eagles Wings,
THANKS for that link to "Unbound Medicine" and such a fast reply, too.
So, I checked it out... and it is an annual fee?! But it says you don't have to renew?! That is a bit confusing to me. If you don't renew, you just refer to "last year's" data/information>??? Do you know of anyone who has actually used this software? I know, I know, lots of questions... that belong to Unbound Medicine support! LOL. Yep, I'm sure I will be talking to them. Even if I can't use an electronic device during clinicals, having all this info in one portable electronic device will save my back.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the above info. It is something I'm SERIOUSLY considering.
Did you find those Merrell Jungle Moc Leather (all white) shoes yet?
Try shoebuy.com I have my pair!!! I know they are fantastic shoes because I traveled a while back and we had to "look a bit dressy" and yet had to "walk a LOT". I got a black suede pair. * I got the white smooth leather for RN school. No suede for RN school. * These shoes are the bomb! Best shoes I've EVER owned. And last forever, too! My black suede ones are - I dunno 7 years old & feel & look great. No, I dont' wear them everyday.. but still. Not sure how well the white colored ones hold up in a hospital environment, but if they last a year without looking beat-up, I'll be happy.

Those links to Amazon reminded me of their "Subscribe and Save" program. There are some amazing prices on there for a lot of grocery items and other stuff: http://www.amazon.com/gp/subscribe-and-save/details/index.html
They give you the discount and free shipping for scheduling deliveries every 2 months, 6 months, or whatever. You can cancel or reschedule at any time so it's not a commitment at all. Some of the stuff is lower priced than if you go to the local market (and no sales tax).
In my opinion, the iPod touch is super useful even if you can't use it in the hospital. I am super lazy and only use a couple of apps, but still find it invaluable. Like someone said, you can also put complete textbooks on there because there are iBook and Kindle apps. If you go to the Apple app store, just the variety of apps under the "medical" section will blow your mind. Pretty much anything you can put on iPhone, you can put on iPod touch. Of course, if you have enough money, it's probably better just to get the iPhone so you can combine two devices in one (iPhone 5 comes out in Sept).
* I should add that it's easy to get carried away when you see all the exciting apps (check out this one for the iPad: http://www.visiblebody.com/ ) I bought a few apps that I hardly ever use. The one I use most is a flashcard app called Mental Case: http://www.mentalcaseapp.com/ I wouldn't recommend any of the expensive apps yet since we will probably be completely drowned just with our assigned textbooks.
Hello Everyone,
I just got a called from Miami Dade Medical campus that the orientation for the Homestead Campus for the full time generic Nursing would be held the 21st and 22nd instead of the 18th and 19th. Please let me know if anyone has gotten a call also. Moreover, I am so glad you guys have this thread going because I thought I had everything together and had forgotten about the CPR class, OMG!

I think the way it works is you pay for the first year of updates. So after the first year, the subscription ends and you don't get updates(lets say, a drug name changes or something), but the actual programs don't erase from your ipod. So you can keep reading diagnostic tests or look up words but they won't be updated regularly as before.
Awww man I need to see those and try them out. I went to the book store here and I tried on their shoes. They are from Landau. They are alright... I don't know if they will hold up a year though which is what I am aiming for.

You'll see, we will get used to keeping up the organization. It's getting started that's hardest, I think, and we've done that :)
