Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
Anyone know why they administered that "self-assessment" test (not the critical thinking one)? It seemed very similar to the MMPI which is used for a lot of law enforcement type jobs to eliminate applicants they predict my be unsuitable. It evaluates honesty, trustworthiness, and other personality characteristics. Not sure how those would be expected to change dramatically by going through the nursing program.
My theory (and I'm sticking to it) is this... if you put "I don't like stress" on the self-assessment test... then they are going to stress you out heavily to see if you can survive RN school. LOL. If you say you are "trustworthy" they are going to test your trustworthiness. If you said you like to work independently... they are going to force you to work in groups.
How is a 3.6???
I've seen people with low GPA / low TEAS scores get accepted. Maybe they had extra "benefits" like already having medical certifications, working in hospitals, etc. While MDC doesn't indicate that these items count... I believe they do!
I think a 3.6 GPA is decent but not fantastic. But MDC claims 60% of acceptance is based on TEAS score. Do really well on the TEAS exam. Buy the study materials and practice tests directly from ATItesting.com. If you don't score as well as you like the first time, take it again in 30 days. It is the same exact test (if you do it within 30 days... not sure it is the same if you do it 6 months later).
With a TEAS score of 81, I was in top 92-percentile in USA. Yet, I saw MANY TEAS scores much higher than mine that were accepted into MDC RN school. I'm surrounded by brilliant people! I'll try to keep up.
One idea I considered if I did not get into RN school fairly quickly.... apply for both LPN school AND RN school. It would double a persons chances of getting accepted into RN school.
Hope this helps you.
PLEASE can people share their "critical thinking" scores? And if they took the "critical thinking college class"
My scores were very average. I did not take the "critical thinking college class".
It is my understanding that RN school is very much about critical thinking.
Wonder how I improve that ability?
How is a 3.6???
It depends on your TEAS score. Have you taken it yet? If not, definitely get the ATI book and do the online practice tests. You can only take it 2 times in one year and you have to wait 30 calendar days between the two. I took it twice with a friend and I had most of the same questions the second time but she didn't have ANY of the same questions her second time. And we both waited exactly one month and took it as soon as they let us. I know it's stressful. Good luck!:)

I went to re-watch some of her videos, but they're all taken down. Anyone know what happened?
