MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Hi everyone, I'm also applying to the MDC Generic Track for the fall 2011. I have a 3.4 gpa in my sciences and I will be taking the TEAS on the 25th. I also but the ATI book and the practice exams. I'm so nervous about getting accepted. Does anyone know of anyone who got accepted last semesters? Just wondering what my probability is. I'm worried that my gpa may be too low but I'm going to really try and score high on my TEAS.

I don't know what the official GPA cutoff point is, but the actual cutoff point will be higher.

That being said, due to the new system of your entrance score being weighted 60% towards your TEAS score and 40% towards your GPA, a really excellent job on the TEAS can give you a big boost, and put you on par with someone who has a 4.0 but may not have done so hot on the TEAS.

I know it's little comfort, but all we can do is apply and see what happens.

Just study study study for the TEAS!!!

just an FYI for those applying... make sure you guys go to the med campus for info on the nursing program because a classmate of mine went to advisement at the north campus and got some COMPLETELY FALSE information!!! They were going to have her apply without her classes being done!! SMH either way happy waiting.... the day iscomin soon!!! good luck *wine

Before you can get an information that you can relay on, you have to go at least 3 times, combine all the info and figure it out yourself. That is pretty much what happened to me, the only difference is that I went more than 3 times lol!!!

Hi! guys! I took the teas V today and got an 82. I was happy until I read that almost everybody is scoring higher :( (I'm happy for you though)

Now I'm kind of nervous.

I'll be applying for the Spring 12 generic program. MDC it's my first and only option at the moment. :D

Good luck to all.

Hey, congratulation!!!! I hope to do as good as you did!!! How did you find the test? Was it hard? Which section you think was the hardest? Did you use the ati study manual to study for the test? If yes do you think it was a good study tool?

I am really sorry if I am asking too much questions, is just because I am planning on taking the test soon, and Miami Dade is my only option as well, and my gpa is not that great, so my only shot of getting in is to score well on the teas!!!

Congrats! 82 is great, what are you talking about?! I was told by one of the proctors that most people are getting between 62-75!!! Or something like that, lol.

Good luck!

Um... That is a great score!! Especially if you have nice gpa to go along with that!!! If anything you could always take it again because there is SOOO much time until the Spring 12 deadline. Either way Good luck and good job:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Really? The 2 different advisors I've seen at Med Campus have been pretty great. The advice I got was fairly simple, at least for my case...

Basically I was told to:

- Complete the 18 credits of pre-reqs (AP 1 & Lab, AP 2 & Lab, Chem 1033 & Lab, Human Growth & Dev, Microbiology) by the time applications are due

- Take the TEAS Test by the time applications are due

- Hope

- Pray

;)

Anyone get anything different?

That's great, you were pretty luck, it took me a while until I got the right information, but at least now I am on the right track!!! Just studying a lot for the TEAS!!!!

Well, I think that an 82 is not a bad score. Still there is a lot of competition out there, and since people are getting 85 and 86, an 82 doesn't look that good anymore :) Anyways I still have time to take it again if I need it. At the meantime I'm happy!!! :D

Fcat

About the Teas...it wasn't that bad. The math was pretty basic. Addition of fractions, percent, perimeter of a rectangle, basic subtraction, nothing difficult. The reading and English part was easy as well. The part I found kind of difficult was the science portion...but, I have to say that I haven't taken Microbiology or finished A&P2 :p

And yes, I studied by the ATI Manual :)

If you have any other question you can PM me and I can tell you more or less what was the test about! :D

And thanks guys for the answers and I hope you all get accepted into the program!

By the way! I have a 4.0 GPA...I hope I can maintain it until I finish next semester (fingers crossed) :D

I think an 82 is a fabulous score Congrads!! =)
