MD Anderson Grad Residency Program

Hello all.

Thought I would start a topic to discuss the MD Anderson Cancer Center's Grad Residency Program that is to start on June 25, 2012 and July 09, 2012. The application deadline was on April 27, 2012. Let's keep each other updated and post when MD Anderson starts calling for interviews, etc. Good luck to everyone that applied!!

Have any of you applied anywhere else? I had an interview with Methodist West Houston last week but only got to interview with one unit director since they were all busy :/

I applied to majority of the hospitals around Houston for their GN positions. Only really heard back from MD Anderson and Texas Children's (sent me an email asking me preferences, but was not called back for an actual interview).

Don't lose hope you guys! I don't quite understand what kind of algorithm they are using to contact us but from what I heard from current employees at mda, they are very slow (as we all know very well).

ivetter - yes they told a few of us what units we will be on, along with shift and start date.

I have a feeling more people on this forum will get calls! If it helps any, my recruiter sounded very sick and told me she was feeling under the weather....maybe that has delayed them?

Hi Soxie, well congratulations! Will you be working day or night shift? From what I hear most of the ppl that applied to the GN program that started in March and that were actually hired are working night shift, so I was just wondering if that has anything to do with it..I requested day shift so who knows ;?

Thanks ivetter! Luckily I got day shift and so did another friend of mine. During the interview we both said we had no preference as to what shift or unit we wanted.

Definitely do not give up hope!! I thought that it was weird that I got a call before they had the unit I will be working on sorted out. Me and my recruiter have been playing a game of phone tag. When we finally talk I will try and ask if they are still making calls.

Thanks guys!! I'm trying to balance not giving up hope with being realistic, but I really REALLY hope theyre not done contacting people. It just seems like its taking forever for them to contact only 30-40 people. Please let us know what you find out! And congrats to everyone who's already been offered positions!

I agree with you rsh24bsn, it does seem like it's taking forever. They were fast about scheduling interviews and so on but I guess they're really taking their time now :/.

I talked to my recruiter this morning. In my tired state I forgot to ask of they were still making calls, but she did mention they're planning another hire group for the July start. Which I'm hoping means they've got positions

To the people who already got offers: are you all starting at the end of June? I am thinking that they may call other applicants (because HR keeps saying that they are still finalizing applicants) for the July start date *crosses fingers*

Amoeba I was offered a choice of June or July start date, which means they still have spots if I'm allowed to pick.
