MD Anderson GN Residency

Has anyone heard back from MD Anderson for their GN Residency that begins on November 28, 2011. I had my interview with them October 31st and was told that that week would be the last week of interviews, so I figured they would have started making decisions by now. The start date for the residency is right around the corner so I was wondering if anyone has heard from them or has any updates on the situation? Thanks so much!

Is it a good idea to keep calling to check on the status of applicants or is it best to just wait??

Thanks so much for the update Patience2011! They finished interviewing a week later than what I was initially told, so it makes a lot more sense now why we still haven't heard from them yet. I thought for sure we would have heard by the 2 wk point which was Monday and then when that didn't happen, I got worried, so it's good to know what's going on. You don't happen to know how many they interviewed do you? I seem to remember the recruiter saying that they were interviewing 50, but perhaps they ended up interviewing more seeing as how they lent an extra week to interview more applicants?

And rookie RN-BSN, it's hard to say what to do in this situation because you want to let them know that you are still interested, but at the same time you don't want to come off as pushy or annoying. I guess I would call at least once? I don't know what the best thing to do is, but I called HR once to explain my situation about having another job offer that I needed to make a decision about and to let them know that I preferred MD and then I left a voicemail for the recruiter that I had my interview with, but I haven't heard back from her yet.

Hey Everyone, I am glad I could help. I don't remember how many people they said they were going to interview but the number 50 does ring a bell. I hope to hear back from them soon cause I am getting nervous, but I know it will come with time. Have a great day!

So I called HR a couple of times last week, and all I was told was that they were still having meetings and making decisions and had yet to send out recommendations. No one has been able to tell me an expected date that candidates will be notified by. Has anyone else been able to find out when MD will be making phone calls or emailing candidates? Is the residency still supposed to start on the 28th? That's just a week away....=/

Ahhh I got a job at MD Anderson!! OMG I feel so lucky and blessed to be picked to work in such a amazing hospital! The nurse recruiter called me at 5pm today (I was anxious the whole day today, hoping to hear from them) and the recruiter informed me that they were going forward with offering me at position! OMG I cried out of happiness! I accepted the position right away b/c MDA was my #1 choice. I just wanted to share the GREAT NEWS! THANK YOU GOD!

PS I was hired onto the GU floor and I interviewed on October 28 and the residency starts December 12th!
