MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

I guess whatever is meant to be , will be. If I don't get in, it will give me time to take other classes needed for my BSN. I will just retake my Hesi and as long as I do little closer to 90%, I should get in with the 4.0 gpa.

That has been my outlook as well. I'm kinda happier in a sense that I didn't do as well on HESI I will start a little later it'll give me time to work on those classes. I only really need one more semester after this one. So, if I start in January, I will feel that it's meant to be.

That's if I even get in lol.

Are u guys taking BSN classes here at Macomb and where u are gonna transfer your credits later. I'm taking History, Sociology and Psychological Statistics and I will need 3 more after this, second Engl, Chemistry 1 and 2 ughg, and Math/statistics.

Omg i got the same question i kept looking like *** does this have to do with reading or comprehension im like this is so stupid no one said anything about geography lol

Hi anela im taking history psyhological statistics and i am being certified to teach the cpr aed first aid class. im already certified to do it but i was out of classes to take so i get to be a student teacher at the school for 4credits and i just test kids .. ive took sociology already and next semester if i dont get in i plan on retaking anp(maybe this summer idk) that way i will have a 4.0 and im almost sure a 4.0 and 82 will get in. but next semester im taking chemistry second english course and i think its also a math course to take.. i plan on apllying to msu for my bsn or OU or madonnA MY LAST resort school would be madonna......

after this semester i should have 45or46credits i beleive im at 33credits and im currently taking 12

i seen someone got in at 159 with 3.8 and 82 im hoping a 3.71 and 82 will make top ten alternative list (wishful thinking) probally wont make it this year but next year i know i will make it ill have a 4.0

I am taking Lifespan and Spanish this semester for my GenEd requirements for my BSN. I still have to take my Lit class, Chem class, Hist and an Arts G.E in order to transfer to O.U. I was hoping for an October or January start but since my 2 classes transferred lower than expected because they were science classes in two separate segments and I received a lower average in one segment than the other so rather than taking the average as a unit they are counted separately unlike say the A & P at Macomb which you do the entire class in one setting and is 6 credits mine was 4 credits with an A and 4 credits with a B+ which would normally average as an A- and you think they would transfer that way but nope...same with 5 credit Micro with a separate lab (that is if the Counselor was correct) She got 3.625... when she did the calculation and I got 3.781.. so I guess the lesson here is that they REALLY want you to take ALL of your Nursing Pre-Reqs at Macomb.. I will have to wait and see in the end of April...oh and I also wish I could have kept my 90.4 on the HESI rather than having them round down to just a 90...every little bit helps :)

I really hope everyone posting on this thread gets in! No matter what happens don't stop trying to reach your goal. Everything happens for a reason...trust me I know. I got accepted into a tough nursing program Fall of 2013. Out of hundreds of applicants they only accepted 40 for the Fall and I ranked #7. I was so happy and nervous. My first quarter was filled with so much stress and anxiety not only because of school, but because I had to figure out who was going to drop off and pick up my kids from school and who was going to be babysitting my 3 year old at the time. The program I was accepted into is accelerated compared to other schools and pretty much crammed insane amounts of info into our heads. Clinicals were overwhelming for me because I had never experienced working in a hospital setting before, yet I was thrown into a patient's room my very FIRST day of clinical. I was not expecting that at all since I was a brand new nursing student. I kind of understand the method my instructor used of throwing us in to learn faster but, at the time, I was completely overwhelmed. I felt like we were tested before we were taught lol. Anyways, i ended up passing everything with flying colors EXCEPT one class which I failed by 1%!!! (passing is 84%).. After all that I went through I was beyond upset! I got my grade one day before my daughter's 4th birthday! I honestly forced myself to be happy and cheerful for her party and for the holidays that followed! It was so hard and for awhile I didn't know if I wanted to continue on with my goal of becoming a nurse. Well, I decided to not let this defeat me and decided to come back to Macomb in January 2014. I took intro to nursing and microbiology (it didn't transfer so had to take it again). I'm hoping to make it in this Fall with a 4.0 and 92 HESI. All 3 of my kids will be in full time school this Fall (my youngest is 5 now and will be in kindergarten) so if I make it into the program I won't have to worry about asking my family to take care of her. I really believe that what's meant to be will be. I was so depressed at first but after some time and thought, I decided that I'm happy I was able to learn from that experience. Good luck to all of you!!!

With those scores @abej823 you are DEFINITELY a top contender!! And that coupled with your past experience in Nursing school you will be fine.. plus now it may be a tad bit easier (not much but slightly easier) now that your children are all of school age.... I wish you all the best in your endeavor!! You got this!!

Thank you @ORbunny I wish you all the best as well! Nursing school is not easy but it will definitely be worth it. :)
