Hey Peeps,

Just seeing who else applied to the Mayo Nurse Residency program for the Feb/2016 start. I don't graduate until December this year and don't have a super competitive GPA anymore due to nursing school B's. I am doubting I will get a spot, but it couldn't hurt to try.

Just making this thread for anyone who wants updates on the interview and selection process for this go around. I think the next application session will be early next spring for those who miss this one.

Does anyone know how many applicants there were this go around?

I also applied for this, as I also graduate in December. Do you know how long it typically takes to hear if you get an interview? I would be very excited to start my nursing career at Mayo, but I'm trying to stay realistic and not get too excited.

I'm not sure. im just like you in totally loving the idea of starting at Mayo, but with how competitive it is to even get an interview, let alone a job, I am also staying realistic about my chances.

I applied too! Did you guys apply for both tracks or just one? I would think it would be a few weeks until we hear back about a telephone call/setting up an interview? I know they extend offers in December. I am super nervous, but like you all i'm staying very realistic about the odds of starting there.

I applied for both, but I only had 100 hours of critical care experience if I counted up my clinical rotations, I don't work in an ICU or anything like that. I wonder if they extend offers in December after they see our final grades for the last semester? I'm going to try not to get nervous until I'm actually told I have an interview (if that happens).

I applied to both because it couldn't hurt. I only have 108 hours of critical care experience through school though, so my chances of getting that spot is even worse then med/surg. But again, why not, right?

Does anyone know if mayos new grad program is offered once or twice a year? I don't graduate til may 2016 and am curious if they offer anything then.

Twice a year. There is a Feb start and a June start I believe.

Yes, they offer it twice a year. I believe the other start date is in July, but I forgot when the application process for it begins. You either have to keep watching their site or click on the link that says "For questions - email us" and ask them closer to that time.

I read the other threads on here for the AZ Mayo Clinic, and if they do what they previously did they will extend offers a week or two before Christmas. I graduate second week of December, so i'm not sure if that's what they're waiting for? Or just trying to narrow down a large candidate pool?

Hi!

I applied too and graduate in December. I heard it is very competitive but anything is worth a try. I am from Illinois looking to relocate to Arizona after graduation. Any advice on places that hire new grads would be greatly appreciated. Im trying to keep all my options open.

Thanks

HI, Guys!

I also applied. I got a call for an interview, which is next week for the Med-Surg position.

From what I heard there were over 500 applicants and will have around 75 interviews (just what I have heard though). SO I am sure it will take a while to get all those calls out. I did most of my clinicals at Mayo and was also a Nurse Extern there over the summer, on the oncology floor, so I am hoping for a return to that floor.:inlove: Mayo is such an awesome hospital, and speaking with the nurses that went through the residency they are extremely happy and comfortable with how it's prepared them. Good luck everyone!
